New York played a crucial role in shaping the future of gambling. Coinciding with the 80th United Nations General Assembly, held from September 23 to 29, 2025, the Better Gambling Forum is taking shape. This multilateral initiative marked the beginning of a global effort to protect players. The event was part of the Science Summit and included the launch of the “Responsible Gambling Practice and Policy Pillars” (RG3P), aimed at becoming a shared standard for preventing gambling-related harm and enhancing protection across borders.

The six core pillars are said to represent a "major step" toward developing a unified and evidence-based approach to player and harm protection. The RG3P framework offers a responsible gambling guide for policymakers, regulators, and public health experts to address gambling-related harm through a "brain health and public health lens."

Representing the Philippines at this "invitation-only" event with the support of PAGCOR and its Chairman and CEO, Alejandro Tengco, has been a humbling experience that has strengthened my desire to learn more about the gambling and gaming industry. As we become part of initiatives like this, we can provide a clear and actionable path forward that prioritizes public health and brain health.
