This is the BEST explanation I have ever heard.

If you think of your muscles/fascia like a newspaper on a table that has had water poured all over it.

The pages get sticky and gummed together. Those are adhesions/knots.

With traditional massage therapy, we press down into the newspaper and then slide across the grain to try and separate the sticky pages from one another.

With cupping, we create a vacuum on the surface that lifts the top page away from the one beneath it and away from the one beneath that.

Cupping is a different way that we can stimulate the tissues of the body and the nervous system to move towards less pain and better mobility.

This explanation makes it easy to understand and picture what is going on when giving/receiving cupping during a massage! Hope it helps!
