Last Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Rural Health Unit conducted its regular Vaccination Day, which was made even more meaningful through the health education activities provided to parents and caregivers who visited the RHU.

As part of the day’s activities, parents were given an informative session on the importance of breastfeeding, highlighting its vital role in strengthening the immunity of infants and supporting the overall health of both mother and child. The discussion emphasized the numerous benefits of exclusive breastfeeding, including proper nutrition, protection from infections, enhanced bonding, and long-term health advantages.

In addition, mothers were oriented on Pinggang Pinoy, a practical food guide designed to promote balanced, healthy meals for Filipino families. This helped parents better understand proper portioning and the importance of incorporating a variety of food groups into their daily meals.

The distribution of micronutrients was also carried out to support the nutritional needs of children and pregnant or lactating mothers. This activity was led by the Nutrition Officer, Ms. Gheenesa Panelo together with the dedicated RHU staff, ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries received the supplements.

Health Activities Conducted by RHU at the Evacuation Center during Typhoon Uwan

During the attack of Typhoon Uwan, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Angadanan conducted a series of health activities at the evacuation center to ensure the well-being of affected families.

RHU staff provided health education to evacuees, focusing on disease prevention, proper hygiene, and the importance of safe food and water practices during calamities. Profiling of evacuees was also carried out to identify vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children, and the elderly.

To address nutritional concerns, the team conducted an assessment of the nutritional status of children and distributed micronutrient supplements to help prevent malnutrition and strengthen their immunity.

These efforts reflect the RHU’s commitment, under the leadership of Dr. Princess Faith Penetrante, to deliver continuous and responsive healthcare services even in times of disaster. The activity was made possible through the support of the Local Government Unit of Angadanan and the cooperation of the evacuees who actively participated in the health initiatives.

TB Caravan held at Barangay Allangigan, Angadanan, Isabela

The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Angadanan, in collaboration with Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Officials, and RHU staff, successfully conducted the TB Caravan on November 7, 2025, at Barangay Allangigan, Angadanan.

The activity aimed to strengthen the campaign against tuberculosis (TB) through early detection and health education. Residents availed of free chest X-ray, PPD testing, HIV testing, and health education sessions conducted by the RHU team.

A heartfelt thanks to the Department of Health Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (DOH–CVCHD) for providing the Mobile X-ray services that made the activity more accessible and impactful for the community.

The event was made possible through the support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) under the leadership of Mayor Joelle Mathea Panganiban , and the guidance of Dr. Princess Faith Penetrante, Municipal Health Officer.

The TB Caravan continues to bring essential health services closer to the people, promoting early diagnosis and encouraging every Angadanian to take part in the fight against TB.
