Dr. Henson is a sixth generation descendant of the founder of Angeles City, Don Angel Pantaleon de Miranda. Both of his parents are Angelenos. After high school, he took up B.S. Biology at the college of Science – University of Santo Tomas. He was accepted at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the same Royal and Pontifical University. After graduating from medicine, he took up the Basic Science course in Ophthalmology at the Stanford University Medical Center. He then went back to the Philippines and took his ophthalmology residency at the International Eye Institute – St. Luke’s Medical Center. He then went to the University of Hawaii for a fellowship in Orbit, Plastic and Lacrimal Surgery at the St. Francis Medical Center. Not content with this, he did another fellowship in Lasik refractive surgery at the Centro Oftalmologica San Jose in Monterrey, Mexico and also at the Schwartz Laser Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Henson did the first Laser Tear Duct Surgery in the Philippines at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in April 2000. He also did the first balloon dacryoplasty in the Philippines at the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center in 2005. He is co-founder of the The Lasik Surgery Clinic – Angeles University Foundation Medical Center in Angeles City, Philippines. He is a past president of the Central Luzon Society of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology. He is an officer and fellow of the Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and an active member of the Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Philippine Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
