๐ MINDSET MATTERS ๐
โจ A special AKAP segment featuring messages from your favorite school staff and teachers! โจ
๐๏ธ Todayโs Word of Wisdom comes from: Dhyna Denolan, School Librarian
Q1: How can you or your or your office contribute in building a mentally healthy school environment?
I think our school library can also support in building mentally healthy environment, aside from promoting literacy and the love of reading or an area for studying, this also gravitates the well-being of our students as they read books especially the fictional books, whereas different themes , messages and tones can be learned from what they've read, and found a sort of realization or enlightenment on their personal feelings or perspective.
Sometimes I really have some random interviews with the students who visited the library and looked for this kind of book, and spent time to read like fictional books. I asked them why would they love to read that kind of book? And some answered, "Ma'am it is really my favorite genre and it gives me a relief from stressful situations" And there were two students who borrowed a Bible, and I asked them why did they want to read a Bible, one answered, "Ma'am I want to read the book of Revelation, because it seems to be real nowadays" and the other one answered, "Ma'am I like the Bible verses from the book of Psalm, it gives me hope to continue and go on with my life despite struggles that I am having now.โ
As a library-in-charge, I also learned from those students, and it came to my realization that a library is not only an avenue of learning from reading but also a room where you can find hope amidst struggling circumstances. And I am grateful for those students who boldly shared their intentions of reading books and continued their reading and study habits in the library.
๐ Through the thoughtful insights of Maโam Dhy na Denolan, weโre reminded that the library is more than just a place for books, itโs a sanctuary for reflection, emotional growth, and quiet healing. Her everyday encounters with students reveal how stories, scripture, and study can offer comfort and clarity during difficult times. ๐ At AKAP, we honor these safe spaces and the people who nurture them. Letโs continue to build a school environment where every ACHSians feels empowered to seek hope, express themselves, and find peace in the pages they turn. ๐โจ
