We are delighted to be part of the 2025 AO Trauma Seminar—Complex Lower Extremity Injuries in Manila! AO Trauma Philippines

The event is fully booked with highly esteemed foreign faculty and attendees from three continents across many countries. 🇵🇭 🇹🇭 🇮🇳 🇨🇴 🇦🇺

Participants will learn the current management of patient problems related to complex trauma of the lower limb. Fractures from the pelvis and acetabulum to the foot and ankle will be covered as well as joint injuries, dislocations and soft tissue injuries. Comprehensive care for the acute trauma phase and the post-traumatic sequelae such as malunion, nonunion, and infection will be covered.

Dr. Chinkin Coruña will cover topics ranging from open ankle injuries, their posterior fixation, and talus fractures.

Congratulations to Dr. Chinkin Coruña for successfully completing the Faculty Education Program of the AO Education Institute. This milestone further allows him to share his knowledge to a larger global audience. Teaching and mentorship in his hometown of Bacolod remains his passion, and he remains a consistent presence in the hospital during surgical procedures and lectures to the staff.

Starting the 2025 academic year with a lecture on Wound Care for "Vascular Journey" organized by the Philippine Society of Vascular Medicine. Collaboration with our dear cardiologists is vital for wounds to heal among patients with heart and vessel problems. Without oxygen to nourish cells in the body, recovery is limited.

Together with Drs. Francisco Maleza, Jr., Anthony Gebusion, Ana Ma. Nanette Arriola, Greggy Panga, Jatter Angelo Duran, Ramayana Diaz-Garcia, Jasmin Melissa Bernardo, Ma. Five Orthopaedics and Traumatology pre-residents in Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital were welcomed by the Foot and Ankle Service headed by Dr. Chinkin Coruña with a lower extremity casting workshop on top of the monthly audit.

This serves as a unique learning experience for them early on in their career and will continue to be polished as they get promoted. Cast immobilization is not as simple as many people may think. It's application is the reflection of the health professional's skill and knowledge in doing so. Many horror stories have been published of poorly applied devices with patient complications sometimes too unbelievable to be true.

It is our hope to bring out the best in these young MDs and allow them to be the doctors they ought to be. It is an honor to be part of their education, and that of our clerks and postgraduate interns.
