🦠 What is Impetigo? A Common Skin Infection in Kids 👶👧

Impetigo is a highly contagious bacterial skin infection, most commonly seen in infants and young children. It typically starts as red sores or blisters around the nose, mouth, or hands that burst, ooze, and form a golden-yellow crust.

🔍 Caused by:

Staphylococcus aureus
Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A strep)

💡 Early Signs to Watch For:

Red spots or blisters on the face or body
Itching or discomfort
Honey-colored crusts forming over broken blisters

⚠️ Why Early Consultation is Important:
If left untreated, impetigo can worsen and lead to superimposed infections, such as cellulitis (a deeper skin infection), or even complications like scarlet fever or kidney inflammation in rare cases.

👉 Seek Pediatric Care If:

You notice red sores or crusty patches on your child’s skin
The rash is spreading
Your child has a fever or swollen glands
The skin looks increasingly red, swollen, or painful

🩺 Prompt treatment with topical or oral antibiotics can stop the infection quickly and prevent complications.

📞 Don’t wait for it to get worse — early treatment means faster healing and less risk of spreading to others.
