Rules When Visiting a New Mom ✨

When a new baby arrives, everyone is excited. Friends, family, neighbors—everyone wants to come over, hold the baby, and celebrate. But here’s the truth: a new mom doesn’t just need visitors… she needs understanding, respect, and support.

If you’re planning to visit a new mom, here are some unspoken rules you should always keep in mind:

1. Don’t come empty-handed.
Bring food, diapers, wipes, or even just coffee. A small act of kindness means the world when she hasn’t slept in days.

2. Wash your hands before touching the baby.
No exceptions. Babies are fragile, and germs are real.

3. Don’t overstay.
A short visit (20–30 minutes) is enough. She’s healing, she’s tired, and she doesn’t need to entertain anyone.

4. Don’t expect to hold the baby.
Sometimes, the baby just needs mom. Respect that.

5. Help more than you talk.
Fold laundry. Wash dishes. Take out the trash. Support doesn’t always mean advice—it means action.

6. Don’t bring your problems.
This is not the time to unload your drama. Keep the visit light and supportive.

7. Respect her choices.
Whether she’s breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, co-sleeping or crib-sleeping—her baby, her rules. No judgment.

8. Text before you come.
Don’t just show up. New moms need time to prepare mentally and physically for company.

9. Don’t kiss the baby.
Even if you love them, their health comes first.

10. Remember: She’s recovering, too.
The spotlight may be on the baby, but don’t forget to check in on the mom. She needs love, encouragement, and grace.

💜 A visit should leave her feeling lighter, not more exhausted.

Take folic acid 5mg/tab 1 tablet once a day at least 6 weeks prior to getting pregnant or immediately upon cognizance of pregnancy.

Eat the right amount of micro- and macronutrients for a healthy pregnancy. 💙

Folic acid helps prevent major birth defects of the brain and spine, making it an important B vitamin during pregnancy. Pregnant patients need 600 micrograms of folic acid daily, so adding a prenatal vitamin with at least 400 micrograms of folic acid to a healthy diet is key. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4ehujfb
