📌 STRESS -- The Reason Why it is a Serious
Health Threat
As a mother, who gave birth to a child with a birth defect -- I work long --
"Sleepless nights to provide the utmost care a mother could give."
"Enduring exhausting days in the hospital to embrace my child with comfort and love."
"Spending days to continue nurturing my child to grow as who he is today."
Ren, 2018 Ceragem Client
You probably have some idea how Ren feels, even the Stressful situation you are facing now is completely different from hers.
Whatever causes you Stress -- whether you are driving in a heavy traffic, suffering emotional pain due to strained relationship at home or at work, or anything else --
Well, Stress is not new to mankind.
True, in itself Stress is not bad -- it can gear us up to meet challenges.
Have you ever experienced a life-threatening situation? (Like you woke up in the morning because your home was burning on fire🔥) Stress can enable us to perform feats we would never have believed we are capable of.
How about you have an important assignment, Stress may have generated at that moment a surge of adrenaline that will enable you to carry out the task on time.
🔹Adrenaline is a hormone released by our Adrenal Glands that help us cope with emergencies
However, what if a Stressful life we have is unrelenting and it makes our body fail to relax?
"States one Researcher" -- Stress will be the number one threat to our Health and Well-being.
Have you ever felt losing your patience and angrily want to snap at someone, somehow you wish to avoid getting to that state, you might even want to ask yourself --
"Is there anything I can do to relieve Stress??"
Happily, there is! The relief that has helped many of our Clients to cope is also available to you.
📍 STRESS -- What It Does to Us??
You have a valuable appointment, you prepare to arrive early, yet your ride arrives late, and as you go along you encounter heavy traffic. You begin to feel nervous, and anxiety is now sinking in, your body is responding by increasing your blood pressure making your heartbeat faster, eventually you arrive at the exact time, now you feel your heart rate and breathing generally turning to normal.
At some point, what if you are dealing with a long term Stressful situation --
❗Anxiety
❗Muscle Tension
❗Increase Blood Pressure
❗Disturb Digestion
May take longer to return to normal, and more and more experiences find that the tension never goes away. For instance have you ever felt a trap of a day to day dead end job?
So how does Stress now affect your Body and your Health??
📍How Does the Body Reacts to STRESS?
Dr. Arien Van Der Merwe, an expert on the subject, explains how your body reacts to Stress. The body instantly kicks into action and a complex --
"Stress Cascade of Neurochemicals and Hormones rushes through your entire body, preparing every Organ and System for the
RED Alert Stress Response."
Immediately, your body is ready to take out-of-the ordinary action. All your Senses --
Including sight, hearing, and touch are involved.
The Brain quickly reacts and the Adrenal Glands instantly release powerful hormones revving up your muscles, as well as your heart, lungs, and other organs for whatever might be needed to handle the Stressful Situation.
Thus, in an emergency your body's Stress response may save your life. I mentioned a situation where one morning someone woke up and realize that their house are on fire, it truly happens to my business colleague and a family too --
"It was a rainy morning of August 2023, she was suddenly awakened because she heard something was bursting and breaking, then when she got out of their bedroom to check it out... WOW the entire kitchen ceiling is burning 🔥🔥 wild, everything is bursting and breaking.
She was so shocked, at first she thought to control the burning fire so she ran to her attic and tried to get rid of the foam that was beginning to burn, but realizing it cannot be controlled anymore, she ran grab her car keys and bag and simply ran outside shouting for help, and continue watching how the blazing fire consume the entire inside of the house leaving nothing even a single underware.
Truly, a devastating and disheartening event.... 😣😩😫😥😢💔💔... Yet as the tension began to subside, she now felt a burning sensation in her fingers, and it turned out to be a first degree burn.
Well, it is completely a different situation, however, what if the Stressful condition we are dealing is inevitably unrelenting???
📍When STRESS Becomes an Enemy
What if your body is constantly Revved up?
❗Your muscle remain tense
❗Your pulse rate and blood pressure
remain high or elevated
❗Levels of cholesterol, fats, sugar and
hormone and other chemicals lingers
in the blood.
Prolonged elevated levels of chemicals in the blood and an intense and frequent burst of activity will eventually damage important body organs, with what consequences???
You may begin to experience BACK aches, HEAD aches, MUSCLE SPASM of the neck, as well as MUSCLE tensions, which is according to Doctors, these symptoms are related to CHRONIC Stress.
Ongoing STRESS too can hamper CREATIVITY and PRODUCTIVITY, as well as ENTHUSIASM and sadly can damage INTERPERSONAL relationships.
It can also lead to IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME, DIARRHEA, and ESOPHGEAL spasms.
The consequences of Chronic Stress may even be more serious, STROKE, HEART ATTACK, KIDNEY FAILURE, CARDIOVASCULAR problems and DIABETES maybe caused by or made worse by prolong Stress.
"Because of the secretion of Cortisol in long-term Stress" writes Van Der Merwe, fats tends to accumulate around the ABDOMEN and BACK.
SKIN disorders, such as ECZEMA, PSORIASIS are associated with-- or aggravated by -- STRESS.
SEVERE Stress has also been linked to DEPRESSION, INCREASE AGGRESSION and BURNOUT. MEMORY and CONCENTRATION too can be permanently impaired by constant Stress.
An IMMUNE SYSTEM seriously compromised by long-term Stress can make a person vulnerable to anything from the COMMON COLDS to CANCER and AUTOIMMUNE diseases.
STRESS, has a huge impact on all aspects of our well-being --- MENTAL, PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, and SPIRITUAL --- so we need to know how to CONTROL it because we CAN NOT ELIMINATE the BODY'S STRESS response altogether.... WHY NOT????
We might liken Stress to a SPIRITED HORSE. It can give us an enjoyable and exhilarating ride. Somehow, if it goes wildly out of control, it can endanger our life.
Similarly, STRESS in MANAGEABLE doses can make life ENJOYABLE and EXHILARATING, providing us with the STIMULUS to be CREATIVE, PRODUCTIVE, ENTHUSIASTIC and HEALTHY.
HOW, though can we keep Stress at MANAGEABLE levels so that we can get the most out of it in our life???
Well, I can share a few effective ways to keep our toes in Controlling Stress in our.daily life...
P.S.
A small dose of STRESS are easier to control than large amounts of STRESS that have built up over a period of time.
When you experience STRESS that is prolonged or severe enough to cause health problems, it should be advisable for you to consult health-care professionals for Medical Treatment.
