Are you concerned that your child may have a social, emotional, or behavioral disorder? If so you may want to consider a visit to a developmental pediatrician.
What do they do? How is it different from a regular pediatrician?
A developmental pediatrician is a physician who is trained as a pediatrician but also has additional training specifically in emotional and behavioral issues. These doctors only evaluate children who may struggle with learning, behavior, or development. This type of doctor would not replace your pediatrician but could be a supplement to your pediatrician.
So if you have concerns about social, emotional, or behavioral issues it may be a good idea to seek a referral to a developmental pediatrician.
