According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death globally, responsible for about 17.9 million deaths (32%) each year. The Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA) reported that ischemic heart disease was the top cause of death in 2025, with 40,532 cases (20%) nationwide.

The good news: most heart diseases are preventable through a healthy lifestyle. This Philippine Heart Month, rememberโ€”it's never too late to start making choices for a healthier, stronger heart. โค๏ธ

To have a healthy heart, here are some tips guided by the World Health Organization (2020):
โœ…Eat a balanced and nutritious diet
โœ…Maintain a healthy weight
โœ…Stay activeโ€”aim for at least 150 minutes of exercise each week
โœ…Avoid smoking
โœ…Limit or avoid alcohol intake
โœ…Regularly monitor your blood pressure and blood sugar

Small steps today can lead to a stronger, healthier heart tomorrow. โค๏ธ
