Leveling Up Hospital Pharmacists in the Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance

The Philippine Society of Hospital Pharmacists (PSHP), in line with its mission to strengthen the role of hospital pharmacists in combating antimicrobial resistance, successfully conducted a comprehensive Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Training Program for hospital pharmacists. The program was proudly funded under the Philippine Pharmacists Association’s (PPhA) Project 10 for 10+ Advocacy Funding Program, reaffirming our shared commitment to enhancing healthcare through education and advocacy.

This training served as a timely and essential initiative to equip pharmacists with the foundational knowledge and strategic tools needed to implement effective AMS practices in their respective institutions.

The program featured an excellent roster of expert speakers who shared their knowledge and insights across various key areas of antimicrobial stewardship:

Mr. Alshan Ruccini Sicat– Basics of Microbiology
Ms. Rachel Merci Mundo– Basics of Pharmacology
Ms. Rubina Abaya– Principles of Antimicrobial Therapy
Ms. Mary Jeane Robles– AMS Strategies: Restrictive Approaches
Ms. Sheryll Ann Limson– AMS Strategies: Persuasive Approaches

Each session equipped participants with practical knowledge and tools to lead AMS initiatives in their respective institutions.

In celebration of World Pharmacists Day 2025, the Department of Pharmacy of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH & MC) proudly conducted a coastal clean-up activity at Gabut Norte Beach, Badoc, Ilocos Norte. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to community service, environmental sustainability, and public health advocacy.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Barangay Officials of Gabut Norte, led by Hon. Virgilio Calajate, Municipal Mayor of Badoc, and Barangay Captain Mario Max Prieto, for their warm support and cooperation in making this event a success.

🚨 MAGING MAINGAT SA PAG-INOM NG ANTIBIOTICS 🚨

💊 Ang Doxycycline ay ginagamit laban sa bakterya na Leptospira, na maaaring makuha sa kontaminadong baha o putik kapag nakapasok sa sugat o galos.

‼ Huwag basta-basta uminom ng Doxycycline o anumang antibiotic nang walang payo ng doktor. Kapag mali ang paggamit, maaaring mawalan ng bisa ang gamot laban sa mga mikrobyo.

🏥 Paalala ng DOH: magpakonsulta sa health center kung lumusong sa baha, may sugat man o wala, para sa tamang rekomendasyon ng iyong doktor.
