C.A.R.E. (Continuum, Assessment, Rehabilitation, Excellence) in Rehabilitation: Continuum to Return to Function at MMMH-MC

Four physical therapists from MMMH-MC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation proudly presented the hospital’s comprehensive rehabilitation care continuum during a focused symposium at the Philippine Physical Therapy Association's (PPTA) IMPETUS National Convention 2025, held last November 22–23 at Century Park Hotel, Manila.

The speakers — Avigaile L. Cabanos, PTRP (Chief Physical Therapist), Princess Edelweiss M. Corpuz, MPT, PTRP (Pulmonary Rehab Team Leader), Reinville J. Bocoboc, PTRP (Orthopedic-Pain Rehab Team Leader), and Mark Aldrin T. Santos, PTRP (Sports Rehab Therapist) — highlighted the department’s best practices in delivering a comprehensive and coordinated rehab process.

They showcased how MMMH-MC ensures continuity of care across all phases: from early mobilization during inpatient stay, to functional rehabilitation in outpatient services, and into the maintenance and wellness programs at the Sports Medicine Section. This unique, patient-centered rehabilitation framework was well-applauded and appreciated by symposium attendees.

Together with Maria Sincera G. Bunye, PTRP, MBA, the team proudly represented MMMH-MC Physical Therapy excellence on the national stage.

Taking a walk outdoors isn’t just good for your lungs, it’s a healing connection between the environment and your body.

In Environmental Physical Therapy, we recognize that green spaces are more than just scenery, they’re therapeutic tools. Walking outdoors improves your breathing by:
1. Expanding your lungs naturally
2. Reducing indoor air pollutants
3. Lowering stress levels (which tightens breathing)
4. Strengthening your respiratory muscles

When you walk in cleaner, greener environments, you're also supporting sustainable health—for you and for the planet.

Try this: Do a nature walk + practice slow breathing (inhale for 4, exhale for 6) and feel the change.

Let’s advocate for more green, breathable spaces—for our lungs and our communities.
