🚫 DON’Ts While on Antiretroviral (ARV) Medications 🚫

Staying on your ARVs helps keep your viral load undetectable and your immune system strong but here are things you should avoid to stay healthy and effective in your treatment:

❌ Don’t skip or miss doses.
-Even one missed pill can lead to resistance or treatment failure.

❌ Don’t stop taking your meds without your doctor’s advice.
-Always consult your healthcare provider before any changes.

❌ Don’t mix ARVs with alcohol or illegal drugs.
-These can affect how your medicine works and harm your liver.

❌ Don’t take herbal or over-the-counter medicines without consulting your doctor.
-Some can interfere with your ARV’s effectiveness.

❌ Don’t share your medications.
-Your ARVs are specifically prescribed for you and your treatment plan.

Remember: Consistency is key. Take your meds on time, every time!

Stay committed. Stay healthy. Stay undetectable.

💡 INFLUENZA-LIKE ILLNESS (ILI) PREVENTION 💡

Stay healthy and protect yourself and others from flu-like infections! 🤧💪

🦠 What You Can Do:

✅ Practice good hand hygiene — Wash your hands often with soap and water or use alcohol-based sanitizer.

😷 Wear a mask — Especially in crowded or enclosed areas.

🧍‍♀️ Observe physical distancing — Keep a safe distance from people showing flu symptoms.

🚫 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth — Germs easily enter through these areas.

🤒 Stay home when sick — Rest and recover to prevent spreading infection.

💉 Get vaccinated annually — Flu vaccines protect you and those around you.

🫖 Boost your immune system — Eat healthy, drink plenty of fluids, and get enough sleep.

Together, we can stop the spread of Influenza-Like Illness! 💚

🧬 1. Practice Safe S*x

Use condoms correctly and consistently every time you have s*x (male or female condoms).

Condoms form a barrier that prevents contact with semen, vaginal fluids, or blood that can carry HIV.

Avoid multiple s*xual partners or ensure both you and your partner are tested and know your HIV status.

💊 2. Take PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)

PrEP is a daily pill for HIV-negative individuals to prevent infection.

It’s highly effective when taken correctly—up to 99% protection against s*xual transmission.

Available in most treatment hubs and wellness centers (like BatMC Wellness Zone).

💉 3. Avoid Sharing Needles or Syringes

Never share needles, syringes, or other equipment used for injecting drugs, tattoos, or piercings.

Use only sterile, single-use instruments.

🧪 4. Get Tested and Know Your Status

Regular HIV testing helps with early detection and prevention.

Encourage your partner(s) to get tested too.

Early diagnosis allows access to treatment and reduces the risk of spreading HIV.

🤰 5. Prevent Mother-to-Child Transmission

Pregnant women should be tested early for HIV.

If HIV-positive, antiretroviral therapy (ART) can prevent passing HIV to the baby during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.

🩺 6. If Exposed, Take PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)

PEP is a short course of ART taken within 72 hours after possible exposure (e.g., unprotected s*x, needle injury).

The earlier you start, the better it works.

❤️ 7. Treat People Living with HIV

People on ART who maintain an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV s*xually — this is known as U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable).
