SUMMER IS HERE!

The dry season in the Philippines (March–May) brings increased temperatures, which may elevate the risk of certain illnesses such as sore eyes, skin infections, and respiratory conditions. The University Health Services (UHS) encourages everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize their health and safety.

Tips to Stay Healthy This Summer:

1. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
2. Wear light, loose, and breathable clothing.
3. Keep your surroundings clean, well-ventilated, and cool.
4. Practice proper hand hygiene by washing hands regularly or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
5. Use sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure, especially during peak hours.
6. Avoid crowded places when possible to reduce the risk of infection.
7. Maintain a balanced and nutritious diet to support your immune system.
8. Wear a mask when necessary, especially if you are unwell or in high-risk areas.
9. Avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms such as rashes or flu-like illness.

Let us all enjoy the summer season safely and responsibly.

March is Drowning Prevention Month

Do your part, Be water smart! 🌊

Sa bawat paglangoy at pagpunta sa dagat o swimming pool, mahalagang tandaan ang 5Bs para sa kaligtasan:

Bantay – Bantayan palagi ang mga batang lumalangoy.
Bida Salbabida – Gumamit ng life vest o tamang flotation device.

Anti-Rabies Awareness

Rabies is a 100% preventable but deadly disease that can affect both humans and animals. It is usually transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, most commonly dogs.

To protect yourself, your family, and the community, please remember the following:

✔️ Vaccinate your pets regularly against rabies.
✔️ Avoid contact with stray or unfamiliar animals.
✔️ Seek immediate medical attention if you are bitten or scratched by an animal.
✔️ Wash the wound immediately with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes before going to the nearest health facility.

Early treatment can save lives. Rabies prevention starts with responsible pet ownership and community awareness.

Let us all work together to keep our community safe and rabies-free.
