R2TMC Participates in NIA GAD Seminar on Health and Wellness
Region II Trauma and Medical Center (R2TMC) actively participated in the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar on Health and Wellness Program. The activity was held at the National Irrigation Administration-Nueva
Vizcaya Irrigation Management Office (NIA-NVIMO) Covered Court, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on December 19, 2025.
The program was organized by the NIA-NVIMO, led by Ms. Felipa S. Sumer, Division Manager A, with the assistance of Ms. Pelita Marie C. Gabriel, Engineer A/GAD FPS Member and Mr. Ceferino M. Florentin IV, Acting Admin Services Officer A/GAD FPS member, in partnership with the Bayombong Solano Villaverde Federation of Irrigatorโs Association (BSFVIA). This initiative forms part of the continuing commitment of the NIA-NVIMO to promote gender equality, inclusivity, and holistic well-being. Participants included NIA-NVIMO staff and representatives from BSFVIA.
It was conducted in coordination with the R2TMC Public Health Unit (PHU) head, Dr. Jenny B. San Pedro, and Health Education and Promotion Officer III, Mr. George B. Basilio. Accordingly, R2TMC was represented by personnel from the PHU, Integrated Delivery of Tuberculosis Services (iDOTs) facility, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Family Medicine Department, Psychology Unit, and Talinaay Center.
Highlights of the program were the comprehensive health lectures designed to promote awareness, prevention and early intervention. Key topics included Hepatitis, discussed by Dr. Dominador D. Wayet, Jr.; Mental Wellness, presented by Ms. Roilyn C. Duro; Reproductive Health, led by Dr. Jane L. Publico; Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), explained by Mr. Guillermo B. Francisco; and Tuberculosis (TB), presented by Dr. Edel Grace Lasam. In addition to the key topics, R2TMC services were also promoted during the activity. PHU staff, Ms. Ialaina Elaine A. Manalo and Mr. Nathan Jay A. Cariazo introduced participants to the official social media platforms of the hospital and the General Medicine online appointment system, highlighting accessible and convenient healthcare services.
An interactive open forum followed the lectures, allowing participants to raise questions and seek clarifications not only on the discussed topics but also on other health-related concerns and available services. The engagement underscored the importance of health promotion within the community.
R2TMC extends its sincere appreciation to NIA-NVIMO and the BSVFSIA for the opportunity to participate in and contribute to their Gender and Development initiative featuring the promotion of health.
