THE BEST SLEEPING POSITION DURING PREGNANCY.
🔴THE best sleeping positions during Pregnancy especially after 28 weeks, is sleeping on your side (SOS), as it improves bl@ flow to the placenta and baby by preventing the heavy uterus from compressing major bl@ vessels like the vena cava, reducing risks like stillbirth.
🔴Sleeping on your left side is often cited as ideal for optimizing bl@ flow and kidney function, but the right side is also good, and alternating is fine.
🔴 Using pillows between your knees, under your belly, and behind your back helps with comfort, reduces pressure, and can alleviate back pain, heartburn, and swelling.
WHY SIDE SLEEPING IS BEST
✅ Optimal Circulation: It keeps pressure off your aorta (carrying bl@ to your body) and inferior vena cava (returning bl@ to your heart).
✅ Nutrient Delivery: Better blood flow to the placenta means more nutrients and oxygen reach your baby.
✅ Reduces Swelling: Improves circulation to help with swollen hands, ankles, and feet.
TIPS FOR COMFORTABLE SIDE SLEEPING
✅ Pillow Placement: Place a pillow between your bent knees, under your belly, and/or behind your back for support.
✅ Bend Knees: Keep your knees bent to relieve stress on your back.
✅ Prop Up: For heartburn or shortness of breath, prop your upper body with pillows.
Rotate: Don't worry if you wake up on your back; just roll back onto your side.
POSITIONS TO AVOID IN LATER PREGNANCY
✅ On Your Back: Lying flat on your back in the second and third trimesters puts significant pressure on bl@ vessels, restricting blood flow to your uterus and baby.
✅On Your Stomach: This becomes physically impossible and unsafe as your belly grows.
