An excerpt from one of our Expression Activities this afternoon:

Children were asked to “𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲.”

When they were ready, and only if they felt comfortable, they could come forward and share their drawings with the group.

Then one kid in an orange shirt quietly stepped forward with his drawing.

OT: “𝘖𝘩, 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨? 𝘞𝘰𝘸, 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦. 𝘕𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘪-𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨?”

Kid: “𝗔𝗺𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆. 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆.”

A simple drawing… yet a truth too heavy for a child to carry.
Sometimes the smallest voices hold the deepest wounds— and still, they choose to draw hope.

Not all screen time is the same! Passive use (like endless scrolling or background TV, watching without any engagement by themselves) gives fewer chances for kids to learn and connect. Active screen time like watching together, talking about what you see, or using interactive apps, can actually build attention, language, and social skills.

Using high quality TV shows also makes a difference.

Make sure to read through the screen time guidelines and recommendations as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

I’ve also included tips on promoting speech and language skills while co-watching with your child.

The recent floods in Danao City have caused immense loss, especially for families with children who have special needs. While their basic survival needs are being met, many have lost important items—comfort objects, toys, and school supplies—that help them feel secure and restore a sense of normalcy.

We’re launching the Hope in Action Donation Drive to help families recover from these losses. Your support will provide comfort and essentials like toys, blankets, and school supplies.
