These ducklings caught my attention. They veered slightly away from their parents, like learning how to swim on their own, then they went back to their parents.

So I thought this is how we should be learning our qigong and tai chi movements. Learn one bit, get good at that then approach the next movement, take that on board, be confident with it, then on to the next. No rush. No deadlines. No cramming. It is not a race. Each movement you learn already gives you health and mental benefits. Be patient. But be persevering in your practice. The 3 Ps I learnt from my sifu - practice, perseverance, patience.

At a recent visit to Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens I sat and watched this beautiful tree swaying in the breeze. It looked like a willow tree but it is not. Google Lens says it is Acacia cognata. But it still reminded me of Flowing Breeze Swaying Willow, Phase 3 of the 5 Phase routine we follow for our qigong classes. This is the phase, where if our body is totally relaxed even when standing, the qi we've generated during our practice can move to all the different meridians all over the body where it is required for balance or for improved well-being.

To all our online qigong students, last online qigong class for 2025 is this Saturday at 9am (Philippine time). 2026 classes start on 17 January by which time I will be in the Philippine time zone.

MOVE THE BODY WITH QIGONG
Fascia is the delicate connective tissue weaving through our entire body. It wraps around muscles, cushioning joints and also said to support our nerves.
However, without regular movement fascia hardens and tightens losing the fluidity to help us move with ease.
Qigong helps the fascia become more pliable. Over time, with consistent practice we not only achieve better mobility but also a deeper connection with our body's innate resilience and vitality.
Online qigong classes via zoom starts at 9am this Saturday, November 8 (Philippine time). Send a message through our inbox for more information. Have a good day.

In my study of qigong, I have come across a few values that we need to be reminded of. One of these values is compassion. It is said that if we are too self-absorbed without extending compassion to others, our practice is incomplete. We have to balance self-cultivation with social awareness. With each breath we take in our practice let us be reminded to help lighten another person’s burden.

Live on Zoom qigong classes 9am, Nov 8. Philippine time.
Enrolment now open. Message us on this page or on taichi.bohol@gmail.com

Are you aware that our legs contain some of the largest muscles in our body? They also demand a lot in terms of the amount of energy they require to remain healthy. When our legs are strong it is said that they can help regulate blood sugar, stabilise hormones and even lower the burden on our heart. However, when our leg muscles weaken it affects fat metabolism by slowing it down, insulin resistance develops, circulation is affected and even mental clarity declines. Protecting our leg strength is very important.

Aside from feeding our body with the right kind of food to maintain leg strength, movement is also important. The practise of qigong definitely helps in this regard. We are working with our own body weight so there is less stress on our joints.

Next qigong live on Zoom classes will start 9am on Saturday, 8 November. Enrolment is now open. Send us a message through our FB inbox for more information.
