Through strengthened coordination with national agencies, the city ensures timely support for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and remains committed to assisting those who may need to return home.

In line with this, the Mayor Law Fortun called for a meeting with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) RD Atty. Jason P. Balais, Field Office Head Keith C. Gender-based sexual harassment in streets and public spaces has no place in our communities. Catcalling, stalking, unwanted remarks, and other forms of harassment threaten the safety, dignity, and freedom of individuals—especially women and members of vulnerable sectors. Everyone deserves to move through public spaces without fear, intimidation, or disrespect.

The Butuan City Government calls on all Butuanons to stand together in promoting safe, respectful, and inclusive public spaces. Through awareness, accountability, and community cooperation, we can help prevent gender-based harassment and ensure that our streets remain places where everyone feels protected and valued.
