In an extraordinary case from Brazil, doctors discovered an 11-year-old girl with 81 teeth — the highest number ever reported in a single human mouth. The condition, known as multiple hyperdontia, occurs when extra teeth form beyond the normal 32. Most patients have just one or two extras — but 31 additional teeth is almost unheard of.

What baffled experts most was that the child had no genetic disorder or syndrome linked to such overgrowth. The excess teeth caused crowding, jaw distortion, and difficulty in speech and chewing, making it one of the most complex dental cases ever managed.

Treatment required a multi-specialist team — oral surgeons, orthodontists, and prosthodontists — working in stages over several years to extract and reconstruct while preserving normal growth.
