Lagi bang masakit ang mga tuhod o balakang? Laging namamaga at hirap umakyat-baba ng hagdan? Hindi na makaupo o kailangan ng tungkod kapag maglalakad? Baka ARTHRITIS na yan!

Degenerative osteoarthritis is a chronic joint disease that primarily affects the elderly population, but can also occur in younger individuals due to various factors. It is characterized by the gradual breakdown of the cartilage that cushions our joints. Over time, the protective cartilage wears away, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. This wearing away of the cartilage is permanent and cannot be reversed.

TREATMENT:
Medical treatments are also available to alleviate the pain and slow the progression of degenerative osteoarthritis.
1. Acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), can provide temporary relief.
2. Intra-articular injections may be recommended to manage pain and inflammation.

Surgical treatment is reserved for severe cases. Joint replacement surgery, such as knee or hip replacements, can provide significant relief and restore mobility for individuals with severe degenerative osteoarthritis.
