✨️Debunking 6 Skincare Myths in 2026✨️
Let's separate facts from fiction.
🛑 Myth 1. Acne breakouts end in your 20s
✨️ Factors to consider when acne persists beyond puberty: Hormonal changes, stress, poor diet and lifestyle changes can all lead to adult acne
🛑 Myth 2. Glass skin is healthy skin
✨️ Camera filters, makeup and lighting can give you the illusion of glass skin. Normal skin is supposed to have texture!
🛑 Myth 3: Using antibacterial soap daily to prevent infections
✨️ Regular use of antibacterial soap could lead to more antibiotic resistant bacteria by killing the beneficial skin bacteria living on our skin
✨️ Thorough hand washing with regular soap and water is enough to prevent viruses and bacteria from spreading.
🛑 Myth 4: The more products you use, the faster the results.
✨️ Increased dryness, redness, stinging, itch and sudden breakouts are signs of irritation.
✨️Start low and slow. Gradually introduce 1 active product at a time.
✨️ Expecting everything to work in 7 days is why people stop and say "This doesn't work."
✨️ Especially for conditions like acne, hyperpigmentation and fine lines- our aim should be slow but consistent progress in about 3 months time (or more).
🛑 Myth 5: You do not need to use sunscreen if your makeup/foundation/face powder already has SPF.
✨️ The problem here lies in the false sense of security.
✨️ Your make up alone does not give you the rated sun protection your skin needs. In order to achieve this, you need to apply a THICK layer of makeup which we normally do not do.
✨️ Wear a separate broad spectrum sunscreen as your base (sufficient amount covering all areas of the face including eyelids, ears, hairline)
🛑 Myth 6: Viral skincare trends on social media are the best products
✨️Did you know social media influencers are paid thousands to promote a product? I am here to deinfluence you.
✨️ Oftentimes, the boring skincare product without the fancy packaging or advertising is the one that actually works.
