Today, we remember the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution—a defining moment in our nation’s history that restored democracy through courage, prayer, unity, and peaceful action along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.
As Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, a Filipino, Catholic, and Jesuit university, we are called not only to remember EDSA but to live its spirit. The revolution reminds us that when faith meets action, and when conscience guides leadership, transformation becomes possible.
EDSA is more than a historical event—it is a continuing call to form persons for and with others, to stand for truth, defend human dignity, and work for justice with courage and compassion. It challenges us as an academic community to educate not only minds, but hearts committed to nation-building.
May we carry forward the light of People Power in our libraries, classrooms, offices, and communities—choosing integrity over indifference, dialogue over division, and hope over fear.
The spirit of EDSA lives on when we become instruments of peace, justice, and transformative leadership for our beloved Philippines.
