Reading to a baby may seem small, but it has a huge impact on their brain development. Children exposed to words early grow stronger language skills and talk sooner.

When babies are never read to, their brain focuses on the loudest input. Television, arguments, and chaotic sounds dominate attention. Language, focus, and imagination take a back seat. Millions of words they could have absorbed are simply missed.

Even just five minutes of reading each day introduces new sounds, vocabulary, and sentence patterns. Babies begin connecting words to meanings and emotions. These early exposures build the foundation for speaking clearly and understanding others.

The effects compound over time. Children who hear stories regularly are more likely to ask questions, imagine scenarios, and develop strong attention spans. Reading is not just entertainment—it is the fastest path to giving a child a head start in communication.

Parents and caregivers hold the power to unlock a child’s language potential. Every minute spent reading pays off in confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Small daily habits create massive advantages for speech and imagination.

Sabay-sabay nating i-level up ang kanilang kakayahan! 🚀

It’s our first day back, and the season of giving is clearly not over 🍎💜

We feel incredibly grateful every time we receive pasalubong and gifts from the children and families we work with. Since December, we’ve been blessed with so many thoughtful presents—and today, on our very first day back, a parent surprised us with these fresh fruits: apples and mangosteen.

We know that being a parent to a child with additional needs is not easy. This makes us feel even more fortunate to work alongside parents and families who collaborate so closely with us and are so generous in so many ways.

Whenever families gift us something, we receive it with deep appreciation. It’s not just the gift itself, but the time, thought, and resources they chose to share with us. Moments like these remind us how meaningful and rewarding it is to be part of a helping profession. Truly grateful. ✨

We were happy to welcome Teacher Cess, a third-year Occupational Therapy student, to Onwardz!

She interviewed Teacher Kaye to learn how ethics are integrated and upheld in a pediatric clinic setting.

In the Philippines, occupational therapy practitioners are guided by the PAOT (Philippine Academy of Occupational Therapy) Code of Ethics—a cornerstone of ethical, client-centered practice. It’s inspiring to see future OTs like Teacher Cess actively learn and embrace these values, which serve as essential guiding principles for meaningful, relevant, and impactful clinical practice.
