Lupus Awareness Month's goal is to inform other doctors, patients, caregivers and the general public about how best to diagnose, care for and most especially, live with Lupus. This month we celebrate the warriors battling this disease.

Approximately at least five million people worldwide have a disease called lupus. Lupus is a life-threatening disease when your body's immune system attacks your tissues and organs (autoimmune disease). Women, particularly those of childbearing age, account for 90% of those diagnosed with lupus, with systemic lupus erythematosus being the most common type, making up 70% of cases. The disease is also more prevalent in people of color, with two to three times higher rates than other populations. Those with a family history of lupus have a 20% chance of developing the disease.

May is Lupus Awareness Month. The Hope for Lupus Foundation is committed to serving Filipinos with lupus and helping the families of those with lupus. Help spread this awareness and save a life!
