February 2026 Electricity Rate, Muling Bumaba!
Households and businesses can breathe a little easier this month as electricity rates saw a significant downward adjustment for February 2026.
Following a peak of ₱13.3376/kWh in January, the overall rate has fallen to ₱12.6512/kWh. This represents a net reduction of ₱0.6864/kWh, or a 5.146% decrease in total costs.
Why are rates going down?
Energy officials attribute this month's "cooling off" period to three primary drivers:
Reduced Reliance on Emergency Power: A significant cut in purchases from Emergency Power Providers (EPPs)—which typically carry a premium price tag—helped stabilize the bottom line.
Lower Generation Costs: The total cost of producing power dipped across the board, providing immediate relief to the billing cycle.
Operational Efficiency: Noteworthy improvements in managing system losses and curbing pilferage have further padded the savings for honest consumers.
The Bottom Line
For a typical household consuming 200 kWh, this month’s adjustment translates to a savings of approximately ₱137.28 on their February bill.
The utility provider noted that the decrease reflects a successful shift toward more sustainable cost management and a strategic move away from high-cost, short-term power sources.
