The Calatrava Rural Health Unit and Birthing Facility proudly marks another milestone — now officially licensed as a Primary Care Facility.
With our DOH-licensed ambulance, accredited Birthing Facility, and certified Dental Care Services, we continue to strengthen our commitment to safe, accessible, and quality healthcare for every Calatravanon.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated RHU staff and healthcare personnel, led by Dr. Mark Allan Rezaga, Municipal Health Officer, for their unwavering service.

Japanese Encephalitis Case Investigation
Sitio Camao, Brgy. Marcelo, Calatrava

Ang Japanese Encephalitis (JE) usa ka klase sa impeksyon nga nagagikan sa Culex mosquitoes — usa ka matang sa lamok nga kasagarang nagapuyo sa mga lugar nga hugaw, ilabina duol sa mga baboyan o mga lugar nga daghan ug hugaw sa itik ug pato. Kung kini nga lamok makapaak ug tawo nga nagdala na sa JE virus, posible nga makasinati ang biktima og taas nga hilanat, pagsuka, kasakit ug kakagot sa kalamnan, ug ubang mga sintomas nga mo atake sa nervous system. Sanglit ang JE nag-atake sa utok ug ugat, kini makapahinabo og grabeng komplikasyon sama sa paralisis sa lawas.

Masubo pamalandungon nga kini ang unang natala nga kaso sa atong lungsod. Nagpahinumdom kini kanato nga ang hugot nga pagpaninlo sa palibot, ilabina sa mga hugaw gikan sa mga sapat sama sa baboy ug pato, importante kaayo aron malikayan ang mga sakit nga mahimong mugna tungod sa dili limpyo nga palibot.

Sa maong kaso, malipay kita nga nakaluwas ang bata. Apan, tungod sa grabeng kadaot nga nahimo sa virus, naparalisa na siya ug kini irreversible na — dili na mapanumbalik sa normal ang ubang function sa iyang lawas.

Ang maong imbestigasyon gihimo uban ang pagdumala ug kooperasyon sa Provincial Health Office, Central Health Department – NIR, Lee Ma Ku (mam jam) ug Municipal Health Office nga gipangulohan ni Dr. Mark Allan L. Rezaga, kauban si Christopher Lorezo, Jessica Martinez Agravante, midwife sa maong Brgy. ug ang uban team sa MHO.

The Municipality of Calatrava has once again been honored with the prestigious Sandugo Award 2025, recognized as one of the top-performing municipalities for achieving 1.41% of its target blood collection.

This remarkable achievement was made possible through the dedicated leadership of our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Marilyn A. Era, and our Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Mark Allan Rezaga.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our hardworking midwives, committed staff, program coordinators, and the invaluable support of the Barangay Chairpersons across all 40 barangays. Your collective effort and unwavering cooperation made this success truly exceptional.

MHO Conducts Mass Casualty Incident Drill on Fire and Earthquake Management

The Municipal Health Office successfully conducted a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Drill focusing on Fire and Earthquake Management to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities.

This activity aimed to enhance coordination among frontline responders and ensure readiness in managing multiple casualties during emergencies.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated partner agencies for their invaluable support in making this drill a success:

MDRRMO – served as the Emergency Operations Center, overseeing overall coordination and command.

PNP – took charge of traffic management, safety, and crowd control to maintain order and facilitate response movement.

Calatrava Municipal Hospital (CMH) – acted as Hospital Base 1 for patient reception, triage, and referral.

BFP – performed as the Fire Suppression Team, ensuring immediate response to fire-related incidents.

Through teamwork and collaboration, this simulation reaffirmed our commitment to saving lives and protecting the community during disasters
