National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) The official page of the National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS).

A non-government organization lead by veterinary student leaders across the Philippines. "The National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) is an initiative to gather veterinary students studying in both private and state universities from across the Philippines. The Congress aims to provide a venue for veterinary student leaders to communicate and unite in honor of the veterinary profession, to acquire and share knowledge among veterinary students, to develop the potential of its members, to promote camaraderie and good ties among future colleagues, and to create a network of earnest future veterinarians for upholding the veterinary profession. It will also be a way of reforming the social meaning of the veterinary profession as it continually faces challenges in education, research, career paths and over- all positive recognition in the country."

From clinics to the laboratories, our speaker has dedicated her expertise to the world of zoonoses, advancing the role of veterinarians in safeguarding both human and animal populations through science-based solutions.

๐Ÿ“‚๐Ÿ”ฌ ๐˜ผ๐™˜๐™˜๐™š๐™จ๐™จ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐˜ฟ๐™ง. Manalo's ๐™๐™ž๐™ก๐™š.. ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™š๐™ฉ๐™š!
She is a veterinarian, an assistant professor, and a zoonoses and epidemiology expert. She is the co-lead of the UPLB Zoonoses Center, Epidemiology and Data Science division. Aside from this, Dr. Manalo is also an alternate scientist member of the UPLB Research Ethics Board and an associate at the DOST National Research Council.

She earned her DVM degree from the University of the Philippines Los Banos where she currently works as an assistant professor in veterinary public health. She also holds a Masters degree in Zoonoses and One Health from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, further specializing in conservation medicine at the Department of Pathology and Parasitology of the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic. This allowed her to co-author, publish, and present interdisciplinary studies in multiple journals and conferences across the world.

She is also a scientist who turns data into defenses against diseases. Throughout her work in the academe, she was able to work on multiple studies focusing on zoonotic parasitology, including the study of ZooTRIP intestinal parasites, Japanese encephalitis virus surveillance, and other epidemiology research.

Today, we come together and celebrate one of the most fascinating, though often misunderstood group of animals on our planet: ๐‘๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿข๐ŸฆŽ๐ŸŠ

From slithering snakes, to the hardiest turtles and tortoises. From the fiercest crocodilians, to the most adaptable lizards, reptiles uphold essential roles in ecosystems all over the globe. Reptiles are responsible for controlling pest populations, serve as both predators and prey in food chains, and are even indicators of our environmental health.

Unfortunately, multiple species of these wonderful animals face threats and duress due to a handful of factors, including habitat loss, difficulties due to climate change, illegal wildlife trading and a general human misunderstanding of their species. Some reptiles are classified as critically endangered in present day due to these threats, with some populations rapidly declining at alarming rates.

Reptile Awareness Day is not merely a celebration for the lives of these animals, but also a reminder of the importance of conservation and education. By learning more about these incredible animals and supporting any effort, no matter how big or small, to protect them and their habitats, we can all contribute and help ensure that they may continue to live and thrive for generations to come.

Let us not fear reptiles, rather be fascinated by them. Let us not forget them, rather celebrate their purpose and contributions to our planet. Let us all do our part in protecting these precious creatures, in turn, allowing them to maintain the balance of our biodiversities and our earth as a whole. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™
