The 𝓒𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓝𝓾𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓞𝓯𝓯𝓲𝓬𝓮 and the 𝓒𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓢𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓞𝓯𝓯𝓲𝓬𝓮 in collaboration with the 𝓢𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓸𝓵𝓼 𝓓𝓲𝓿𝓲𝓼𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓞𝓯𝓯𝓲𝓬𝓮 of Candon, recently conducted 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐇 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 (𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐒), 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝟐- 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐙𝐎𝐃 𝐆𝟐) 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬.

The team visited schools within the city to evaluate the status of water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. The monitoring also included validating results of water quality tests to ensure that all water sources in schools meet safety standards for all the learners and school personnel.

These activities support the City’s ongoing efforts to promote a healthy learning environment and strengthen nutrition, sanitation, and hygiene practices across all schools. We remain committed to working closely with DepEd, school administrators, teachers, and stakeholders to sustain these initiatives and ensure the health and well-being of every child.

The 𝓒𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓝𝓾𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓞𝓯𝓯𝓲𝓬𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓒𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓸𝓷 conducted a series of activities including the 𝙙𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙀𝙇𝙇𝙋𝙄 𝙋𝙧𝙤 across the barangays of the city.

In line with the National Deworming Month 2026 by the Department of Health (DOH), the deworming activity aims to protect children and other priority groups from soil-transmitted helminth infections, contributing to improved health, nutrition, and overall well-being. Simultaneously, the distribution of nutrition commodities supports efforts to prevent and address malnutrition, especially among vulnerable populations.

The commencement of the MELLPI Pro pre-evaluation serves as an assessment to determine the performance of barangays and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in implementing nutrition programs for the year 2025. This activity also strengthens the capacity of BNSs through guidance, monitoring, and technical support, ensuring quality and effective nutrition service delivery at the community level.

These initiatives underscore the City Government of Candon’s continued commitment to preventive healthcare, nutrition improvement, and strong collaboration with barangays and BNSs in achieving better health outcomes for all constituents.

TOTAL: 161 Successful Blood Donors out of 214 Registered Donors!

The City Government of Candon, through the City Health Office headed by City Health Officer Joy Villanueva , successfully conducted its quarterly Bloodletting Activity on December 19, 2025.

The successful implementation of this activity was made possible through the steadfast support and leadership of City Mayor Eric D. Singson , Vice Mayor Atty. Kristelle Singson , and the Members of the City Council, whose dedication to health-centered programs remains instrumental in promoting community welfare.

The City Government also extends its sincere appreciation to its valued partner institutions, the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) and Ilocos Sur Medical Center (ISMC), whose medical teams and technical expertise overall smooth flow of operations throughout the activity.

The City Government of Candon expresses its deepest gratitude to all the selfless blood donors, dedicated volunteers, health personnel, and partner agencies who contributed their time, effort, and generosity to make this event a resounding success.

𝙉𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣| 𝘽𝙉𝘾 𝙍𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣

In support of the City Government of Candon's continuing efforts to improve the nutritional status of the community, through the leadership of the City Mayor and Chairman of City Nutrition Council Eric D. Singson and City Nutrition Action Officer Mr. Brando Castro, the 42 Barangays of the City of Candon undertook the reorganization of its Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC). This initiative aligns with the mandates of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) and the guidelines set by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) for effective local nutrition program management. The reorganization aims to strengthen coordination, enhance program implementation, and ensure that nutrition-related services reach all segments of the barangay population.

The reorganization of the Barangay Nutrition Committee marks a significant step in revitalizing the barangay’s commitment to improving the nutritional well-being of its residents. By appointing dedicated and competent members, the barangay is better equipped to implement nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions. The newly reorganized BNC is expected to work collaboratively toward achieving a healthier, better-nourished City of Candon.

Key agreements reached include the preparation of the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan, scheduling of Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+), preparation for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan and Implementation (MELLPI), strengthening of nutrition education activities, and the setting of regular quarterly meetings.
