ANOTHER TESTIMONY!

"Last Feb. 4 po na-confine si Lo. 7months sya, both lungs (Pneumonia) hirap na hirap po siya. Bumababa oxygen nya, natakot ako habang nkaconfine sya.
Pinalabas kmi ni Doc, Feb.9. May ubo pa rin siya, sabi ko "Doc, ok na po ba siya? Kasi maubo pa po siya.
Sabi nya "Yes, Mommy. Sa bahay ninyo nalang ituloy kasi ok n po siya. Kung magtatagal siya dito, pwede po siyang mahawa sa ibang sakit".

Kaya pumayag po ako. Ang bill namin is P19,845. Nagbigay po siya ng antibiotics at pang nebulize kaya bumili din ako ng nebulizer.
Kaso dumating ang ilang mga araw, parang walang epek yung mga gamot. Lumalala na naman ang ubo niya, same nung naospital siya.
Kaya ibinalik ko siya. Sabi ituloy lang ang gamutan, eh wala talaga nangyare kaya ibang doktor naman ang pinuntahan namin.

ANO ANG POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME (PCOS)?

Ang Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) ang pinakamadalas na hormonal disorder sa mga babaeng nagreregla o mga babaeng puwedeng mabuntis. Ang mga babaeng may PCOS ay maaring makaramdam ng ilan sa mga sumusunod -
1. Hindi regular o paghinto ng regla
2. Hindi mabuntis o magka-anak
3. Pagtaba (karaniwan na lumalapad ang waist line o ang tinatawag na abdominal obesity kung saan mas maraming taba sa may baywang). Pero puwede ring magkaroon ng PCOS ang babaeng payat o normal ang timbang.
4. Taghiyawat (acne)
5. Sobrang buhok sa mukha o katawan (karaniwan sa mga parte na kadalasang walang buhok ang babae, tulad ng sa ibabaw ng labi parang bigote o sa dibdib)
6. Pagnipis ng buhok (tulad ng pagkalbo sa mga lalaki)
Tinawag ang kondisyon na ito na polycystic dahil karaniwang may cysts ang obaryo ng mga babaeng may PCOS. Hindi kanser ang mga cysts na ito.

Marami sa mga kababaihang may PCOS ay nire-refer sa isang endocrinologist dahil may mga kaakibat itong mga ibang problemang pangkalusugan tulad ng:
1. Insulin resistance. Nahihirapang matunaw ang asukal sa dugo kapag may insulin resistance at ito ay maaring tumuloy sa type 2 diabetes.

3. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Ang mga babaeng may PCOS at overweight ay maaring magkaroon ng OSA kung saan patigil-tigil ang paghinga habang natutulog. Pag gising tuloy ay parang pagod na pagod pa rin dahil hindi maganda ang kalidad ng pagtulog dahil bumababa ang oxygen sa dugo habang natutulog at naiipon naman ang carbon dioxide. Karaniwan din na naghihilik ang mga may OSA.
4. Dahil irregular ang regla, puwedeng kumapal ang lining ng matres. Huwag itong pabayaan para hindi mauwi sa endometrial cancer o kanser sa lining sa matres.
Tulad ng diabetes, wala pang gamot para gumaling o mawala ang PCOS pero may mga gamot na puwedeng ibigay ang doktor para umayos ang regla at mabuntis. Kailangan din ng tamang pagkain at ehersisyo para pumayat at maiwasan ang diabetes at maging normal ang level ng kolesterol. Puwede ring magreseta ang doktor ng gamot para sa diabetes at kolesterol.
