𝐂𝐕 𝐋𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒-𝐅𝐍𝐒 𝐋𝐆𝐔𝐬 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞

Lapu – Lapu City – Local government units in Central Visayas implementing Local Nutrition Early Warning System – Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS–FNS) crafted policy briefs to strengthen local nutrition governance. The policy briefs were the one of the major outputs of the participants after they convened for their annual Program Implementation Review held on 18 – 19 September 2025 at the Goldberry Hotel & Suites, Lapu – Lapu City.

NO III Nasudi G. Soluta of the National Nutrition Council Region VII and ND II Franz Cassandra Ontina of DOH CV CHD/NNC 7 facilitated the review attended by representatives of the LNEWS-FNS areas in the region. The participants presented the LNEWS–FNS results for 2024 to 2025 showcasing the data that served as basis of the policy briefs. The crafted policy briefs will be presented by the attendees to their respective Local Nutrition Committees to guide policy formulation and local decision-making.

LNEWS–FNS serves as both a tool and a process that enables cities and municipalities to identify, analyze, and respond to issues threatening food and nutrition security. It provides a platform for local chief executives and department heads to work together in assessing situations, prioritizing concerns, and formulating appropriate interventions. By facilitating coordinated planning and resource allocation, the LNEWS–FNS strengthens local governments’ capacity to take timely and effective actions that safeguard food and nutrition security.

The PIR for LNEWS–FNS ensures that the above objectives are achieved. Through systematic data collection, inter-agency collaboration, and proactive planning, local governments are better equipped to mitigate risks, prevent food crises, and strengthen community resilience against economic and environmental challenges. // ND II Franz Cassandra R. Amping ug ampo ta kanunay!✨️

📢 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒

On September 30, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Northern Cebu, leaving many families displaced and in urgent need of assistance. Immediate needs include food, clean water, clothing, blankets, and hygiene kits.

For infants, 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 are accepted to ensure their safety and proper nutrition. (In line with EO 51 – The Milk Code of the Philippines, donations of infant formula, milk products, feeding bottles, and teats are strictly prohibited.)

Together, we can provide relief and hope to the affected communities.
