Case Presentation:
💢Procidentia uteri 💢
✍️is a severe form of uterine prolapse where the uterus completely descends and protrudes through the va**nal opening.
✍️ It is caused by the weakening of pelvic floor muscles, often due to factors like childbirth, aging, or obesity.
✍️ Symptoms can include a feeling of pressure or something "falling out" of the va**na, urinary problems, and va**nal discharge or bleeding, though some people may have no initial symptoms. Treatment ranges from pelvic floor exercises and a va**nal pessary to surgical repair.
✍️Causes:
1. Weakened pelvic floor muscles: The primary cause is the weakening of the muscles and ligaments that support the pelvic organs.
2.Childbirth: Repeated va**nal deliveries, difficult labor, or delivery of a large baby can damage pelvic floor support.
3. Aging: As women age, their estrogen levels decrease after menopause, and the pelvic floor can weaken.
4.Other factors:
*Being overweight,
*chronic straining from constipation, *chronic cough, or
*repeatedly lifting heavy objects can also contribute.
✍️Symptoms:
>A feeling of pressure or heaviness in the pelvis.
>A sensation of something "falling out" of the va**na.
>Visible or palpable bulge at the va**nal opening.
>Urinary issues like leakage, a frequent need to urinate, or difficulty emptying the bladder.
>Vaginal discharge, ulceration, or bleeding if the tissue becomes eroded.
✍️Treatment options:
A.Nonsurgical management:
>Pelvic floor exercises (Kegel exercises): Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can improve support and relieve symptoms.
>Vaginal pessary: A device inserted into the va**na to support the uterus and other pelvic organs.
>Lifestyle changes:
Managing weight if overweight.
Treating chronic cough.
Avoiding chronic constipation.
Avoiding heavy lifting.
B.Surgery:
> If nonsurgical treatments are not effective, surgery may be an option to repair the prolapse.
