Cauayan District Hospital stands with people affected by leprosy. Today we remember their strength, recognize the hardships they face, and renew our commitment to early detection, effective treatment, and respect for everyone’s dignity.

Leprosy is a treatable bacterial infection. With early diagnosis and modern multidrug therapy (MDT), people recover and stop being infectious — but many still suffer from stigma, social isolation, and pain from nerve and skin damage. We must respond with care, not fear.

Know the signs:
• Persistent pale, reddish, or discolored patches on the skin.
• Loss of feeling or numbness in a patch of skin.
• Weakness or numbness in hands and feet; painless wounds.
If you notice any of these, please seek assessment — early treatment prevents disability.
