Eating healthy is important, but it's not always easy to know what's good for you and what isn't. The key is balance.
A balanced diet means that you're eating a wide variety of foods in moderate amounts. You should be getting plenty of protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and waterโand you should be eating enough of each type of food so that they all work together to give your body what it needs.
Here are some tips for getting the right mix:
๐ฅ Eat a VARIETY of foods every day. Choose different sources for each food group, like fruits and vegetables from different colors or types of meat.
๐ฅ Eat enough vegetables every day (at least five servings). Vegetables are LOW IN CALORIES but HIGH IN NUTRIENTS like vitamins A or C, folate (folic acid), potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium. They also contain dietary fiber (a type of carbohydrate) which helps keep you full longer so you don't overeat later on.
โฌ๏ธ ๐ญLimit your intake of sugary drinks such as soda pop or sweetened fruit juices since these can add lots of calories but no nutritional benefit at all! Choose water or low-fat milk instead.
