Communities are already supporting one another.

What if that care could be strengthened, sustained, and led from within?

WAVE Communities brings together barangay leaders and SK youth to co-create mental health initiatives that reflect their realities, respond to their needs, and grow within their systems.

After last year’s natural calamities, we saw how limited access to healthcare can be—especially in mountain communities. From our visits to Brgy. Sudlon 1 and Brgy. Tagba-o, this need became even clearer.

Through Pillar 1 of projectWAVE, we’re providing essential medical kits, or what we would like to call WAVE Care Kits, to support barangay health services.

A step toward more accessible care—where it’s needed most. 🤝

We are proud to officially introduce Project WAVE — a community-led response to mental health gaps. 🌿

Rooted in well-being, awareness, vitality, and empowerment, Project WAVE was shaped by the needs we witnessed on the ground and by our belief that communities deserve accessible, sustainable, and localized mental health support.

This is only the beginning, and we’re excited to share this journey with you. Interest to collaborate? Message us! 📩

What does our community need most right now?

The numbers told us a clear story — mental health challenges are growing, while access to support remains limited.

These realities are what led us to design Project WAVE as a response rooted in care, awareness, and community action.

We can't wait to share what we've been working on. Stay tuned!

Our February Huddle was one for the books. ✨

We shared updates on our upcoming project, cast our votes during elections, and wrapped the night the way we always do — over hotpot. After more than a year of post-huddle hotpot dinners, we finally unlocked a new milestone: the VIP room at our usual spot. 😄

We also squeezed in a belated birthday celebration for our curator and successfully wrapped up our elections — making it a night full of milestones, both big and small.

Good conversations, lively discussion, and a table full of food — just how we like our huddles. ♨️

Last weekend, the Davao Hub hosted the annual Philippine Shaper Retreat, bringing together Global Shapers from hubs across the country for a weekend of connection, collaboration, and shared learning.

The Cebu Hub was represented by our Curator, Isa Angan, who joined fellow Filipino Shapers in reflecting on their impact and strengthening partnerships for future initiatives.

The Philippine Shaper Retreat is an annual gathering where hubs come together to exchange best practices, build deeper relationships across the network, and align on ways to create meaningful impact in our communities.

Thank you to the Davao Hub for hosting such a meaningful weekend for the Philippine Shaper community. 🌏

Access to education doesn’t always begin in a classroom. Sometimes, it begins with a single book placed in the right hands.

The LIBRO Project—Learning Initiatives through Books for Reading Opportunities—is Global Shapers Cebu’s commitment to making reading materials more accessible to communities and young learners who need them most. What started as an initiative to make reading more accessible grew into an art and reading session for children whose daily lives were altered by the natural calamities that struck Cebu in November.

In 2025, LIBRO reached communities through three meaningful legs:
📍 May 2025 – SOS Children’s Village, Talamban, Cebu
📍 December 2025 – Barangay Calamba, Cebu
📍 December 2025 – Rise Above Foundation, Guadalupe, Cebu

This initiative would not have been possible without the generosity, trust, and collaboration of our partners. Our sincere thanks to Quintin Pastrana and the Library Renewal Partnership, ACT Community Extension Services Office, and Rise Above Foundation for standing with us in creating safe and meaningful learning spaces for children.

Beyond book distribution, LIBRO represents shared responsibility—where youth leadership, collaboration, and local action come together to support education in tangible ways.

Grateful to everyone who supported, donated, volunteered, and believed in this initiative. We’re reminded that real impact doesn’t always have to be loud—it can start quietly, one page at a time 📖✨
