On the second day of the AMURT Relief Operation in Bogo City, we had the opportunity to serve hot lugaw to the residents of Yolanda Village — a community still struggling without electricity and clean water. According to the locals, we were only the second group to reach their area with food assistance. Their heartfelt gratitude reminded us how even a simple meal can bring comfort in difficult times.

After the village feeding, we continued to share food with people we encountered along the roads — many of whom were waiting and hoping for help. While serving, we also sang together, creating moments of lightness and connection amid the hardship.

Each bowl of lugaw became more than just nourishment; it was a reminder that they are not forgotten. Our deepest thanks to everyone who welcomed us with open hearts and warm smiles, despite all they’ve been through.

Now, as night falls, AMURT is preparing for the second batch of cooking. We are deeply grateful for a kind-hearted local who volunteered to accompany us to one of the most remote corners of Yolanda Village. The same local also generously offered to keep some of our supplies for safekeeping, easing the load for our return to the city.

AMURT volunteers are currently on the ground in Bogo City, Cebu, carrying out their second wave of earthquake response. Last October 1, 2025, within less than 24 hours of the quake, our dedicated team reached the area and immediately began serving warm meals to affected families sleeping on the streets.

They witnessed firsthand the deep struggles and urgent needs of those impacted. Today, we are working to establish a base in Bogo City to better coordinate ongoing relief operations and reach more communities in need.

We need your support. Please help our brave and selfless volunteers continue their mission of compassion and service. Every contribution—big or small,goes directly to providing food, temporary shelter, and hope to those who need it most.

Our team is on its way again to reach secluded areas where little to no aid has arrived. We will soon set up a camp in the north to reach more area other than Bogo. Our yoga center is continuously open for donation and supplies. Here's what you can share:

SHELTER: Tents, tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping mats, pillows

FOOD & WATER: Drinking water, non-perishable food (high energy snaks, granola bars), baby formula, milk powder, cooking oil, rice, etc.

CLOTHING: socks, underwear, raincoats, footwear

HYGIENE & HEALTH: soap (bathing & laundry), hand sanitizer, toothpast & toothbrush, sanitary pads, diapers, wet wipes, first-aid kits, face masks

LIGHTING & POWER: flashlights, battery packs, portable lamps, headlamps, spare batteries

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: utility knives, shovels, buckets, cooking utensils, basic kitchen sets, pots/pans, matches/lighters, plastic containers/bags for storage

MEDICINES & HEALTHCARE (pain relievers, antiseptics), supplies for wound care, bandages, insect repellent

MISCELLANEOUS: tarps or plastic cover for roofs, rope, ropes/ties, mats, mosquito nets, blankets, items for children (toys/books) to help with trauma, transport containers, garbage bags

Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) went to Bogo yesterday to do ocular and provide hot meals to our kins affected by the earthquake last Tuesday.

"Namaskar. We are now still here in Bogo City. Right now, the situation here is that people are staying outside and could not sleep well because there are continuous aftershocks. There is no water and electricity here. We will go back to cebu city now, and we will arrange again another trip going back here asap. We will give updates soon." -brother Kalyan, sent last night after the relief
