This is Kath, who first visited the clinic when she was in grade school. She manifested a -1.25D of myopia and underwent myopia management since then. Now, in her final year in college her prescription is -3.75D, which showed approximately 0.25 to 0.50 increase every annual visit. And this is considered a healthy increase range for refractive power.
You may ask “Why prescription still increased even with myopia management?” 🤷🏻♀️
Myopia Management is done not to halt significant myopia that is already present, but rather to slow down its progression leading towards high myopia. By doing so, it protects patients (specifically children) from having high nearsightedness-related diseases, such as maculopathy, retinal detachment and glaucoma.
It is highly recommended for school-age children to have their eyes checked regularly, even without noticeable signs of visual problems- for early detection and timely intervention.
Let’s keep our children’s future clear and bright by booking an eye test today.
