LIVED EXPERIENCE AS THE GREATEST TEACHER 🎤🎓
Following our Drug Education Campaign at the University of San Carlos (SAFAD Theatre), we are honored to share this special moment where Berta, once a client/patient of Safehaven Recovery Village and now working as assistant admin staff stood before the Carolinian community.
Berta didn’t just share a story, he shared his heart. By opening up about his journey, he turned his past struggles into a source of insight for the students. This is the essence of paying it forward--where we guide and nurture not just through textbooks, but through the raw, honest truth of transformation.
Watching the students listen intently to Berta was a reminder that education goes both ways. While we teach the youth about the risks of addiction, our scholars teach them about the power of resilience, the value of a second chance, and the dignity that can be reclaimed through recovery.
Thank you, Berta, for your courage to speak your truth. And thank you to the USC Circle of Landscape Architecture Students and OSFA for providing a platform where these voices can be heard and respected.
Together, we are designing a community rooted in understanding and compassion. 🕊️✨
