EARTHQUAKE UPDATE!!

Earlier this morning, a powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Davao Region, with its epicenter in Davao Oriental.

SOS Children's Village Davao experienced strong tremors and several aftershocks, which caused minor damage to a few family homes.

By God's grace, all children, mothers, and village staff are safe and unharmed. As a safety precaution, everyone was evacuated to the village grounds—an open area free from tall trees and buildings that could pose further risks.

To ensure the emotional well-being of the children, mothers, and staff, an earthquake debriefing session will be conducted this afternoon, in line with our standard safety protocols.

We are grateful to report that all children, mothers, retired mothers, and staff remain physically safe and in stable condition.

Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch ’73 visits SOS Children’s Village Cebu to unveil the Solar Project Marker, bringing not just power to the village, but hope and brighter futures for every child in our care.

The gathering was more than just about the marker—it was about connecting with the children, our SOS mothers, and the staff who give life to the village every day.

“You are very lucky that you are here and you have mothers to take care of you,” shared SHS Batch ’73 president Sonny Robins during a warm meeting with the children. His words carried the reminder that family, love, and care are treasures beyond measure.

SOS Cebu Village Director D**g Bang also expressed how meaningful this project is, saying it was built not only for today’s children, but for every child of tomorrow who will call the village home.

Also present in the event were other SHS Batch ’73 members, SOS Cebu Board of Trustees member Engr. Siegfried Sia, and SOS staff.

The Memorandum of Agreement signing for the Solar Project took place on July 24, 2025, and now, the solar power system proudly provides almost half of the village’s energy needs.

This gift of light is more than energy—it is hope, sustainability, and love that shines on, generation after generation. 🩵

The happiness of our children is on TOP 🤩!

This weekend, our partner DAC Innovations invited SOS Children’s Village Cebu to celebrate their 5th anniversary at the breathtaking Chateau de Busay 🌲.

What an exciting day it was because our children got to meet the hardworking uncles and aunties of DAC Innovations. They also stepped into a new environment overlooking the beautiful city of Cebu 🌃.

Experiences like these are vital for children: they broaden horizons, spark curiosity, and build confidence by showing them worlds beyond their everyday surroundings.

DAC Innovations has been a steadfast supporter of the holistic programs of SOS Children’s Village Cebu, and we’re excited to see what the future holds as their company continues to grow. Together, we’re nurturing not just happy moments, but brighter tomorrows.

They say the early bird catches the worm, but our children caught something even better: fun, hope, and new memories with our Wipro family. Once again, we were invited to join the Spirit of WiPro Run, this time celebrating WiPro’s 20th year of service.

Our kids laced up before the rooster’s alarm, brimming with excitement and the spirit of healthy competition. They sprinted into the 3K and 5K events with heart and grit, and two of our girls even crossed the 3K finish line in 5th and 9th place!

A proud moment, too, was seeing one of our care-leavers, now a WiPro employee, running alongside us. He shared heartfelt thanks to WiPro for supporting his younger siblings in the village and our Family Strengthening Program (FSP), and spoke warmly about WiPro as a truly supportive workplace.

Capping off the morning, beyond the thrill of the run, was the formal handover of WiPro’s cash donation to sustain our Digital Village Project in the village and our FSP partner communities. Joining us at the event were Mr. Aseem Roy, Head of International Operations and Country Head of Wipro in the Philippines, other WiPro executives, and SOS staff.

From the starting line to the finish, the Spirit of WiPro Run was full of energy, gratitude, and shared purpose, proof that when we run together, we move communities forward. 🏃‍♀️💙
