Compose my restless heart Oh Lord …
GOSPEL REFLECTION – Thursday, August 28, 2025 (Matthew 24:42–51)

Jesus tells us: “Stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” (Mt 24:42)
Life is full of surprises. We plan, we prepare, but the truth is—we don’t control what happens tomorrow. Jesus reminds us that His return will be unexpected, just as our own time to meet Him will come without warning.
To explain this, He gives the example of two servants. One stays faithful—he continues to serve, work hard, and care for the household even when the master is away. The other becomes careless—he wastes time, mistreats others, and forgets his responsibility. When the master returns suddenly, the faithful servant is rewarded, but the unfaithful one faces the consequences.
This parable speaks directly to us. “Staying awake” isn’t about sleeplessness—it’s about living with purpose every single day. It means :
* Choosing honesty even when no one notices,
* Showing kindness without expecting thanks,
* Being prayerful in secret, and doing our work as if for God Himself.
Real faith is proven not in the spotlight but in the unseen moments of daily life.
Today’s feast of Saint Augustine reminds us that even those who once wandered far from God can become faithful servants. Augustine lived for worldly pleasures, but when he encountered God’s love, he surrendered his life completely. His story tells us: It’s never too late to wake up, to turn back, and to live for what truly matters.
Are we living today as if it could be our last? If Jesus came this very moment, would He find us faithful? Let us live not in fear of His coming, but in love—ready to welcome Him.
PRAYER:
Lord, teach me to live this day as a gift. Keep my heart awake, my actions faithful, and my love for You alive—so that whenever You come, I may meet You with joy. Amen.
