We are proud to announce that Velez College Ethics Review Committee (VCERC) has been granted FULL LEVEL 2 ACCREDITATION by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) through its Committee on Standards and Accreditation (CSA)!

📅 Effective: January 8, 2026 – January 7, 2028
🔬 This accreditation authorizes VCERC to review research protocols involving human participants, strengthening ethical excellence in research at Velez College.

Day 02 of the Basic Ethics Research Training was another meaningful and impactful day for Velez College! 🏆🌟💡

✅️The Velez College Ethics Research Committee and Research Center—together with our committed research advisers, faculty members, coordinators, ERC members, chairpersons, and deans—successfully completed the second day of the training facilitated by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB).

📌 DAY 02 HIGHLIGHTS:
• Deepening understanding of ethical considerations in various research designs
• Practical application of ethical principles through interactive case analyses and ethical issues of AI in research
• Strengthening REC/ERC competencies in protocol review and decision-making
• Exploring real-world issues in participant protection, data privacy, and informed consent
• Engaging discussions with PHREB experts on current ethical challenges in research

📚 IN-HOUSE BASIC RESEARCH ETHICS TRAINING 2025
📅 November 18–19, 2025

Velez College proudly gathers its Deans, Research Coordinators, ERC Committee Members, and Research Faculty Representatives for a two-day intensive Basic Research Ethics Training (BRET)—a commitment to strengthening ethical, responsible, and globally aligned research practices.

✨ Training Goal:
To build proficiency in applying research ethics principles and to champion scientifically sound and ethically grounded research protocols.

🔍 By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
✔ Explain the need for Research Ethics Oversight
✔ Identify and apply ethics principles in designing and conducting research
✔ Evaluate research protocols using ethical standards
✔ Understand national structures of research ethics governance
✔ Navigate institutional and national ethics review processes

📘 Pre-Training:
Participants are required to bring personal laptops, ballpen and paper, and other learning materials.

🧭 Day 1 Highlights:
• Understanding research abuses and the evolution of human participant protection
• Core terms, principles, and ethical elements
• Beneficence, non-maleficence, respect for persons, and justice in practice
• Group workshops, case discussions, and informed consent evaluation

• Governance, REC membership, and ethical responsibilities
• Types and processes of ethics review
• Issues in contemporary research, including AI
