Taste is a skill and like all skills, it develops with exposure and practice.
Between 6–12 months, babies are building their flavor library. That’s why:
👉 Early exposure builds acceptance
👉 Repetition is key (8–10 tries is normal!)
👉 Taste is a full sensory learning experience
👉 Simple, single-ingredient foods help babies recognize real flavors
If your baby makes a funny face at broccoli, that doesn’t mean they hate it. It means their brain is processing something new.
Keep offering. Keep modeling. Keep it positive.
At Dynamic Pediatric Therapy, we support families with feeding development, sensory challenges, and picky eating because confident eaters are built, not born.
