In BARMM: 392 pregnant women, 90 malnourished kids receive food aid

COTABATO CITY (January 29, 2026) — Another group of pregnant women and malnourished children received rice and other food provisions from a public service team of the office of a member of the 80-seat Bangsamoro parliament during an outreach mission in Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday, January 27.

Local officials told reporters on Wednesday that 112 pregnant women and parents of 16 malnourished children received 10 kilos of rice each, milk and other food supplies during Tuesday’s humanitarian activity in Barangay Poblacion in Pagalungan of a team from the office of Bangsamoro Parliament Member Kadil Sinolinding, Jr.

Sinolinding is also functioning, in concurrent capacity, as regional health minister of the Bangsamoro autonomous region.

Arkhan Matalam, chairman of Barangay Poblacion in Pagalungan, and their mayor, Abdullah Mamasabulod, separately said on Wednesday that they are grateful to the physician-ophthalmologist Sinolinding and his immediate superior, Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua, figurehead of the Bangsamoro parliament, for having provided their needy constituents with rice, milk and other food supplies.

All of the 16 malnourished kids who benefited from the outreach mission of Sinolinding and Macacua in Barangay Poblacion in Pagalungan are from families identified with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, whose final peace compact with the national government paved the way for the creation of the now seven-year Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Tuesday’s joint activity of the offices of Sinolinding ang Macacua in Pagalungan was assisted by personnel of the municipal health unit led by the physician Jamir Rasheed Abas.

A total of 282 pregnant Moro women and 74 malnourished children in Barangay Batulawan in the newly-created predominantly-Moro Malidegao town near Pagalungan also received food packages from the public service team of Sinolinding and Macacua in a separate relief activity last Monday, January 26.

Malidegao Mayor Arnal Timan and Barangay Batulawan Chairman Loy Batugan separately told reporters on Wednesday that the outreach mission of the team from Sinolinding’s office last Tuesday in their municipality was assisted by their municipal health officer, Namraida Matalam Maglangit.

Photo shows the actual dispersal to beneficiaries of the food supplies from the office of MP Sinolinding during the relief missions of his team from Monday until Tuesday.

MENSAHE NI MP SINOLINDING SA NANGYARING PAGLUBONG NG TRISHA KERSTIN 3 SA KARAGATAN NG BASILAN

PAGDADALAMHATI AT PAKIKIRAMAY

LOOK: Japan and the UN Migration Agency launch on Thursday (Jan. 22, 2026) a new partnership called the REACH-BASULTA to help strengthen maternal and child health services for internally displaced people in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi (BaSulTa) provinces.

Under the new program, Japan and IOM Philippines will develop tailored capacity and skills development plans, and help roll-out integrated health promotion activities in BaSulTa communities.

The three-year program aims to reach more than 410,000 beneficiaries by 2028.

Japanese Amb. Endo Kazuya: This project symbolizes a critical step forward in our continued partnership with the Philippines, particularly in addressing the pressing health needs of vulnerable populations in the Bangsamoro region.

We recognize the challenges that persist in this region. However, we firmly believe that through targeted assistance, we can contribute to positive changes and improve health outcomes for mothers and children. | Joyce Rocamora
