Matapos ang Super Typhoon Uwan, libu-libong pamilya sa buong Rehiyon ng Bicol ang lubos na naapektuhan. Marami ang nawalan ng tirahan, kabuhayan, at mga mahalagang ari-arian. Hanggang ngayon, marami ang komunidad na walang kuryente, malinis na tubig, at sapat na suplay ng pagkain.

Huling namataan ang Severe Tropical Storm FungWong na may local name na sa layong 1,175km Silangan ng Eastern Visayas. Taglay nito ang lakas ng hangin na umaabot sa 110km/h malapit sa gitna at pagbugso na 135km/h.

𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓 | Severe Tropical Storm Uwan has been named and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the 5:00 p.m. bulletin released by DOST-Pagasa.

The storm packs maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h and gusts reaching up to 135 km/h, moving westward at 25 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is now raised over the provinces of Bicol (Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, and Masbate ) and other parts of Visayas and Mindanao due to strong winds and possible heavy rainfall.

Uwan is expected to enter the PAR by early Saturday and may intensify into a typhoon within 24 hours.

Coastal flooding and storm surge warnings may also be issued in the coming days.

Day 2 marked the continued presence of volunteers who ensured that the safety, welfare, and medical needs of athletes were properly attended to throughout the competitions.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: BU RCYC and BU-IPESR RCYC join forces for BU Olympics 2025.

The Bicol University Red Cross Youth Council (BU RCYC) together with the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation – College Red Cross Youth Council (BU-IPESR RCYC) once again demonstrated their steadfast commitment to service as officers and volunteers were deployed across various venues during the highly anticipated BU Olympics 2025.

Assigned both inside and outside the university, the teams ensured that the welfare and safety of athletes remained the top priority throughout the sports competitions. Equipped with first aid kits and readiness to respond, the volunteers stood as the silent force behind every athlete’s well-being.

This deployment reflects RCYC’s ongoing mission to be “𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕. 𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚. 𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆,” embodying the Red Cross values of humanitarian care and community service.
