Dahil sa mataas na mga kaso ng whooping cough na naitala ng Department of Health (Philippines) sa mga unang linggo ng taong 2024, ano nga ba ang dapat mong malaman sa sakit na ito?

Ang PERTUSSIS o "Ubong dalahit" ay lubhang nakakahawang impeksyon na hatid ng bakteryang 𝐵𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑠. Naaapektuhan nito ang baga at daluyan ng hangin na maaring maging sanhi ng matindi at walang humpay na pag-ubo lalo na sa mga bata at sanggol.

Ito ay kumakalat sa pamagitan ng:
Respiratory Droplets - mula sa
pag-ubo o pagbahing ng taong naimpeksyon.

Sintomas ng Pertussis:
1. Sipon, ubo, at lagnat na maaring tumagal sa loob ng 1 hanggang 2 linggo.
2. Ubo na maaring masundan ng pagsuka.
3. Sunod-sunod o walang humpay na pag-ubo na may "whooping" sound.

Paggamot ng Pertussis:
Antibiotic na reseta ng inyong doktor.

Tandaan:
Magpabakuna ng Pentavalent Vaccine sa mga health centers ng tatlong doses sa edad 6, 10, 14 na linggo para sa mga sanggol.

Kung nakakaranas ng mga sintomas, magpakonsulta agad sa doktor o sa pinakamalapit na Health center.
