I'm a cancer warrior."
Last February 2023, my world turned upside down when I was diagnosed with Granulosa Cell Tumor, a rare type of ovarian cancer. The journey began with an oophorectomy (the removal of one o***y) due to a massive 13 cm cyst. The waiting game was agonizing – two months for the biopsy results, which confirmed my worst fears: it was cancer.
I was desperate for answers, but the 'whys' remained unanswered. Doctors mentioned possible factors like lifestyle, food, or genetics (please, not that!). More hospital visits, tests, and check-ups followed. My amazing doctor explained the risks and possibilities, including the dreaded chemotherapy.
But God had other plans!
In May of the same year, I underwent surgery for re-staging, and the wait was excruciating. Finally, the results came in: 'negative cancer cells.' Praise Jesus!
And then, Mark and I got married in June! I thought it wouldn't happen, but he stood by me, stress and all (thank God for his unwavering love).
A few months later, I discovered I was pregnant! Three tests later (just to be sure), we found out we're having not one, but TWO miracles – twins!
Our minds were blown. God showed us that His plans are more beautiful and wonderful than we can imagine.
Mark and I are still in awe, grateful for our Miracle Worker and Promise Keeper. This is our story – a testament to God's goodness and love.
As I celebrate an additional year just this January, I'm reminded that life is precious, and every moment is a gift. I'm grateful for the ups and downs, the twists and turns, and for the love that surrounds me. Here's to many more years of living, loving, and serving my Life-giver, Jesus!
