🩸 Blood Letting Activity 2025 🩸
Davao del Sur State College, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) and the College Infirmary and Care Center (CICC), in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Davao del Sur Chapter, successfully conducted the Blood Letting Activity 2025 last December 16, 2025 at the DSSC Dev-Com Building.

The activity was made meaningful through the active and voluntary participation of students, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and other members of the DSSC community, who generously donated blood in support of Republic Act No. 7719, promoting voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation.

This initiative not only helped ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply for those in need but also strengthened awareness on the importance of blood donation, compassion, and shared responsibility in saving lives. The strong support and cooperation of the participants reflect DSSC’s continuing commitment to community service, public health advocacy, and humanitarian efforts.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to all donors, volunteers, and partners who made this life-saving activity a success. ❤️🩸

The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) reaffirms its strong support for the implementation of Republic Act No. 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994, which underscores the vital importance of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation (VNRBD) in ensuring a safe, sufficient, and reliable blood supply for all Filipinos.

Voluntary blood donation is more than an act of kindness—it is a lifeline that strengthens our nation’s healthcare system. By investing in effective donor recruitment and retention programs, fostering public awareness, and promoting the culture of altruism that VNRBD embodies, we contribute to a more resilient and responsive healthcare infrastructure. The collective effort of the Filipino people to embrace voluntary blood donation reflects our deep compassion, solidarity, and sense of community.

In line with this commitment, the DSSC School Infirmary, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Davao del Sur Chapter, will conduct a bloodletting activity on December 16, 2025. This initiative is part of our ongoing advocacy to promote voluntary blood donation and support Republic Act No. 7719.

𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐄: 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦

Yesterday, November 29, 2025 — The Campus Infirmary and Care Center (CICC), in partnership with SAVERS Club and DSSC MAPALAD under the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), and in collaboration with the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), successfully conducted the Student Welfare: Anti-Illegal Drug Abuse Symposium in compliance with CHED’s CMO on Student Welfare and Development Programs.

MAPALAD and SAVERS Club actively assisted the CICC in facilitating the event, ensuring a smooth and meaningful program for all participants. The symposium was attended by CWTS students, the SAVERS, and MAPALAD members, all committed to strengthening drug awareness, prevention, and responsible decision-making among the youth.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC College President, and Dr. Jeric Anthony S. Arnado, OSAS Director, for their unwavering support. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Hon. Yvonne R. Cagas, Governor of Davao del Sur, for providing our distinguished speaker, Mr. Francisco Ray Banlasan, PADAC Action Officer.

Mr. Banlasan delivered a powerful and enlightening presentation, featuring a real-life documentary that revealed the harsh realities and devastating impact of illegal drug use on individuals, families, and communities.

We are likewise deeply thankful to Ma’am Charmie Marie Dela Cruz, MAEd, CWTS Adviser and GSO Unit Head, for her continuous support and contribution to the success of this activity.

STUDENT WELFARE PROGRAM: SMOKING & HIV/AIDS AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM

Yesterday, November 28, 2025, the Davao del Sur State College successfully conducted the Smoking and HIV/AIDS Awareness Symposium, in alignment with the CHED Memorandum Order (M.O.) on strengthening student welfare, health education, and preventive awareness.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Hon. Josef “Joseph” F. Cagas, City Mayor of Digos, and Dr. Milagros R. Sunga, City Health Officer II, for their unwavering support in making this initiative possible.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President, for her steadfast support, and to Dr. Jeric Anthony S. Arnado, OSAS Director, for his continuous guidance and encouragement.

The symposium featured insightful sessions led by Mr. Bryan Dave Ramos, RN, NTP Coordinator/Designate Disease Surveillance Officer, for the Smoking Awareness lecture, and Ms. Renesa Christine Alvarado, STI–HIV & AIDS Coordinator of the City Health Office of Digos City, for the HIV/AIDS Awareness talk.

The event concluded successfully, followed by free HIV Screening conducted at the DSSC Campus Infirmary for students who wished to know their HIV status.

In support of CHED’s mandate, we continue to build a healthier, more informed, and empowered DSSC community.

𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 – “𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗺𝗮.”

Mechanics:
1. The contest is open to one (1) official representative per College.
2. Participants must create a digital poster related to the theme “Stop the Stigma.”
3. The digital poster must include: o A short, impactful slogan o Visual elements that symbolize awareness, compassion, and inclusivity
4. Designs must be original and created using any digital art platform (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, etc.).
5. Participants must provide a recording of themselves, whether in timelapse or any clear video format, as evidence that they personally created their digital poster.
6. Posters must be submitted in JPEG or PNG format with the filename: College HIV Poster 7. Participants must upload their posters through the official Google Drive link provided by OSAS.
8. OSAS will officially post all entries on the designated social media platform for judging and online voting.
9. Participants may share the official OSAS post of their entry.
10. Only “Heart” reactions on the official OSAS post will be counted as online votes.
11. Submission deadline: November 27, 2025, 12NN.

𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲-𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – “𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴

Mechanics:
1. The contest is open to one (1) official representative team per college.
2. Each team must consist of 5–10 members.
3. The performance must run for a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5
minutes.
4. The role-play must focus on themes related to:
• HIV awareness and education
• Stigma and discrimination
• Acceptance and compassion for people living with HIV
• Prevention, testing, and self-care
5. Costumes, props, and simple set pieces are allowed but must remain appropriate, safe, and non-offensive.
6. Background music, sound effects, or visual projections must be prepared and provided by the participants.
7. Performances may be delivered in English, Filipino, Cebuano or a mix.
8. The use of offensive words, discriminatory portrayals, inaccurate information, or any depiction that promotes stigma is strictly prohibited.
9. The order of performances will be determined through draw lots before the start of the competition.

3. Content may include: o Educational skits o Spoken word o Storytelling o Interviews o Informative reels
4. Videos must focus on at least one of the following themes: o Importance of HIV testing o Safe practices and prevention o Breaking stigma and discrimination o Support for people living with HIV
5. Participants must submit their video entry through the Google Drive link provided by OSAS.
6. OSAS will be the one to officially post all entries on the designated social media platform.
7. All posted entries will include the following hashtags:
8. Submission period: On or before November 27, 2025, 12 NN.
9. Only one entry per participant or group (maximum of 3 members).
10. Once posted by OSAS, participants may share the official post for online voting.

The 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 successfully conducted a Clean-Up Drive within the campus, together with the 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 (𝑺𝑨𝑽𝑬𝑹𝑺).

This initiative embodies our shared commitment to promoting not only health and safety but also environmental stewardship within the school community. Through the spirit of volunteerism, we came together to restore cleanliness and order—proving that caring for our surroundings is an extension of caring for one another.

Blessing and Turnover of the DSSC Campus Infirmary and Care Center

The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) proudly held the Blessing and Turnover Ceremony of the Campus Infirmary and Care Center on November 3, 2025. This milestone marks a renewed commitment to promoting health and wellness within the college community by providing quality and accessible medical care for students, faculty, and staff.

The event was graced by Congressman Cagas, alongside the dedicated College President, health personnel and members of the DSSC community who witnessed this significant occasion.

This new facility stands as a testament to DSSC’s continuous efforts to ensure a safe, healthy, and compassionate learning environment for all. 💚

Last October 23–31, 2025, the 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧, together with four dedicated members of the 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 (𝑺𝑨𝑽𝑬𝑹𝑺), rendered medical support to the DSSC delegates during the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) 2025 held in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.

Throughout the week-long event, the team demonstrated compassion by ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all participants—providing first aid, medical assistance, and emergency response whenever necessary.
