Ang rare disease (pambihirang sakit) sa Tagalog ay tumutukoy sa mga malalang karamdaman na nakakaapekto sa hindi hihigit sa 1 sa bawat 20,000 na tao sa Pilipinas. Kadalasan itong genetic, nakamamatay, at nangangailangan ng maagang pagtuklas (Newborn Screening) at espesyal na atensyon.

Narito ang mahahalagang kaalaman tungkol sa mga rare disease sa Pilipinas:
Kahulugan: Ito ay mga pambihira, madalas namamana, at malalang sakit. Sa Pilipinas, tinatawag din itong "orphan disorders".
RA 10747 (Rare Disease Act of the Philippines): Ang batas na nagbibigay ng suporta, lunas, at karapatan sa mga may rare disease.
Kahalagahan ng Diagnosis: Ang maagang pagsusuri sa pamamagitan ng Newborn Screening ay makakatulong upang matukoy ang mga sakit na ito.

Gaucher Disease
Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD)
Fabry Disease
Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS)

National Rare Disease Week: Ginugunita tuwing huling linggo ng Pebrero.
Ang mga taong may rare disease ay kinikilala bilang Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) sa ilalim ng batas.
