The DOH SOCCSKSARGEN Region Rabies Prevention and Control Program Team conducted monitoring and evaluation of our ABTC as part of the regular assessment of the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall implementation of rabies prevention strategies at the local level.

Through regular monitoring, the team ensures that protocols are followed, resources such as vaccines and medical supplies are adequately available, and that patients receive timely and appropriate post-exposure prophylaxis. It also aims to identify strengths and gaps in service delivery, staff capacity, and community awareness efforts. Ultimately, this activity supports data-driven decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement of the rabies control program to help achieve the goal of eliminating rabies as a public health threat in the locality.

March is designated as Rabies Awareness Month, a period dedicated to raising awareness about rabies prevention and control, with the goal of promoting responsible pet ownership, and encouraging vaccination to reduce the incidence of this deadly, yet preventable, disease. The theme for Rabies Awareness Month in the Philippines between 2022-2027 is "Rabies-free na pusa't a*o, kaligtasan ng pamilyang Pilipino".

The Local Government Unit of Esperanza in partnership with RHU Esperanza Animal Bite Treatment Center and Office of the Agricultural Services conducted series of activities to celebrate the Rabies Awareness Month. These includes:
⭐ Information Dessemination on Rabies Prevention and Control
⭐ IEC on Responsible Pet Ownership
⭐ IEC on RA 9482 (Anti-Rabies Act of 2007)
⭐ Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis to AT Personnel
⭐ Conduct of Anti-Rabies Vaccination to Animals (Dogs and Cats).

With these activities conducted, our LGU is in line with the global goal, which is to eliminate animal-mediated human rabies deaths by 2030.

One RABIES DEATH notified in one of the Hospitals in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat⚠️⚠️⚠️

History of Patient: Nakagat ng a*o last November 2024. Pinatay ang a*o. Wala nagpabakuna sa health center ng anti-rabies vaccine bagkus pumunta sa albularyo para magpa TANDOK! January 2025 lumabas ang signs and symptoms ng Rabies tulad ng takot sa Hangin at Tubig.

Sa lahat po ng Nakagat at Makakagat ng Rabied Animals. Pumunta po tayo sa ating Health Center para magpabakuna ng ANTI-RABIES VACCINE hindi sa Albolaryo para Magpa TANDOK. Ang Tandok ay di nakakakuha ng rabies virus bagkus nakakatulong pa itong mas mapabilis ang pag akyat ng Rabies sa utak ng Tao.

Laging Tandaan! Rabies is 100% preventable, but once symptoms appear it's FATAL in 99% of cases!

PS. ang post na ito ay hindi naglalayong takutin ang mga mamamayan ng Esperanza bagkus itoy naglalayong bigyan ng tama at angkop na impormation patungkol sa RABIES.

PSS. Ang Patiente ay hindi mamamayan ng Esperanza, nanggaling po sya sa ating Karatig Probinsya.

Ang ating ABTC ESPERANZA ay ginagawa ang lahat upang mapuksa at matudlukan ang sakit na RABIES. Tayo po' y magtulungan, kapag ikay nakagat ng Rabied Animals, pumunta sa pina malapit na ABTC at magpabakuna ng bakuna kontra Rabies! Maraming Salamat Po

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9482
ANTI-RABIES ACT OF 2007

ANG BATAS PONG ITO AY HINDI LANG PANG BARANGAY KUNDI PARA SA BUONG PILIPINAS 🐕🦮🐕‍🦺

Sa mga may alagang A*O:

👉Sa Bisa ng RA 9482, maaaring patawan ng parusang multa ang mga iresponsableng may-ari ng a*o:

🐶 Ayaw pabakunahan ang alagang a*o - P2,000 multa
🐕Pag nakakagat ang a*ong walang bakuna - P10,000 multa
🐩 Pag nakakagat ang alagang a*o at ayaw tulungan ng may-ari ang biktima - P25,000 multa
🐶 Pag ayaw itali o ikulong ang alagang a*o - P500.00 multa

👉Senate Bill No. 3189 ipinagbabawal ang pagkakalat ng dumi ng a*o sa mga pampubliko at pribadong lugar matapos matuklasan na nakapagdudulot ito ng sakit sa tao, pagkakalat ng dumi ng a*o sa kalsada, bahay, parke o sa lahat ng lugar na hindi pag-aari ng amo ng a*o.

👉Kung hindi napigilan ang pagbawas nila sa mga ipinagbabawal na lugar, kinakailangang linisin agad ng may-ari o kung sino man ang may bitbit ng a*o at itapon ang dumi sa basurahan.

👉Ang dumi ng a*o ay nag-iiwan ng itlog ng roundworms at parasites sa lupa at nananatili sila doon kahit na ilang taon ang lumipas. Ang parasites na bitbit ng dumi ng a*o ay ang Cryptosporidium, Giardia at Salmonella gayundin ang hookworms, ringworms and tapeworms.

Ano ang mga sintomas ng rabies?

Sa a*o:
1) Nagiging mabangis o mabagsik
2) Tumatakbo ng walang direksyon
3) Nangangagat ng kahit anong bagay
4) Naglalaway ng labis
5) Hindi makakain o makainom ng tubig

Sa tao:
1) Sakit ng ulo at lagnat
2) Pananakit o pamamanhid sa parting kinagat
3) Nahihibang at nalulumpo
4) Paninigas ng laman
5) Takot sa tubig o hangin

Kung nakagat ng isang a*o na may rabies, gawin ang mga sumusunod:

1) Hugasan kaagad ng sabon at malinis tubig ang sugat.
2) Pumunta sa pinakamalapit na DOH Bite Center, Health Center, o ospital. Huwag magpagamot sa “MAGTATANDOK”.

3) Kung ang alagang a*o ang nakakagat, huwag itong patayin. Kumunsulta sa beterinaryo upong maoobserbahan ito sa loob ng 14 na araw.

Myth #2: There is no treatment for rabies

Myth #3: Rabies is only transmitted by dog bites

Fact #1: Rabies IS preventable

Fact #2: There is treatment for rabies, but it must be given correctly and IMMEDIATELY after exposure to a rabid animal

Fact #3: Rabies can be transmitted by the bite of any infected mammal, but most commonly by dog bites

and vaccinate your animal by visiting your local veterinarian or state veterinarian.

Alam mo bang wala nang lunas na maaaring ibigay sa rabies pag lumabas na ang mga sintomas nito? At dahil hindi agad lumalabas ang mga sintomas ng rabies infection, mahalaga ang pagbigay ng first aid at bakuna upang maiwasan ang pagkalat nito sa katawan.

Kung ikaw ay nakagat ng hayop na may rabies Pumunta sa ating RHU upang mabigyan ng tamang gamutan kontra rito.
